Okay so one of my many hobbies is writing.  In my old clan I had a lil section for people to post their poetry, stories, creations...so I would like to start this thread on that.  I love mythology so I will probably be posting my story here because, I think its kewl...LOL...

One of the reasons H and I are together is because of my stories...she fell in love with my writing.  I hope you enjoy it as well and please feel free to share your collections.  Hugs!

Aphrodite's daughter, the Elvin Princess

In a far distant land, lies a beautiful Elvin princess
Her father, Nendhal, king of the Elves,
Her mother, Aphrodite, the goddess of love

No beauty be fairer than her
Her long dark hair like the moonlit night
Her skin like the finest silk

They come from all corners of the world to woo her
The men, the women, the immortal
For she is the fairest of all

In the distance a roar of 3000 mechanical horses
Two blazing wheels of fire and fearlessness
The descendant of the steel gods arrives

Athena's own daughter, wisdom and passion
Her breastplate made of 3000 heated tears
Molded into metal, the sound of sadness encased

Her hazel eyes glow with the determination of victory
For none who opposed her survived, her swiftness
The roar of flaming pipes resound into the valley

The Elvin princess looks to the north in wonderment
For it is not known to her the roar that is coming
Her heart beats with fear and excitement

As she approaches the land of the Elves
LaanXoan surveys the landscape
Caressing every corner of it with her eyes

She spots the princess in the distance
Their eyes meet with fire for the moment
And the roar of the steel horses vibrate

Swiftly she rides, a trail of fire blaze behind her
Into the valley, descending from the mountains with lightning speeds
Until she reaches the palace gates and walls

"Dismount or face the wrath of Nendhal, mortal"
The guards warnings fall upon deaf ears
As she speeds through the narrow opening in the gate

Arrows piercing nothing but the wind behind her
She rides up to the pantheon, the last place she saw the Princess
The guards struggling to catch up to her, fearing her to be an assassin

She enters the pantheon, where a silent princess gasps at her arrival
"My lady" LaanXoan removes her helmet and falls to one knee
Kissing the soft hand of the princess, with such passion

A gasp escapes Airrionna, as her eyes embrace LaanXoan
Just then the guards rush into the pantheon swords drawn
But LaanXoan doesn't flinch, she holds her princess' hand steady

"Stop!" Airrionna commands, "Leave us."
The guards hesitate as if in disbelief fearful for the princess
"I said leave us!" her tone much more brash than the first

As they depart, LaanXoan still remains stoic and steady
"What is your name?" Airrionna asks after the doors are shut
"LaanXoan" answers the daughter of Athena

"Why are you here?" Airrionna asks studying the fine breastplate
Which appeared to move like water in the moonlight
"For you, my lady" LaanXoan answers, still on one knee

"Look up at me." Airrionna commands as her hand starts to feel like it is on fire
The compassionate eyes look up and penetrate her soul with such intensity
She steps back as if to save her from the fire building within her

LaanXoan gently rises and releases the princess's hand
Never once releasing her soul from her eyes
They stand for what seemed like hours, starring at each other

Eye to eye, soul to soul, heart to heart
For the instantaneous combustion of love
Engulfs all that is in its path

"My lady, with the grace of Athena and the blood of Mercuria
I implore you to join forces with us against the imposing Lathodes
For they are barbarians and will destroy our civilizations leaving us barren"

"Why do you ask me, my father is the ruler of all, I have no jurisdiction in this matter"
LaanXoan steps forward into her energy, light radiating from her like gold in the water
"I do not ask to join in a military fashion, I am here to ask you to be my queen"

The princess laughs nervously, "Mercurian, you think you can just waltz in here
Without invitation, without offers for my kingdom, without so much as a hellish
Mechanical horse and expect me to just fall before you and surrender my hand in marriage?"

LaanXoan feeling the heat of rejection mounting under her skin, for no one had ever spoke to her
So defiantly, so boldly, so disrespectfully, she quickly stepped forward close enough for noses to press
Against one another, and eyelashes to flirtatiously brush and dance with each other

The princess' heart beat with such passionate excitement, she could barely contain the gasps
Their lips barely touching, their breath caressing each other's skin, she stood frozen
And unable to think what she should say or do in that precise moment

Her legs quivered as she struggled to maintain her position against LaanXoan
"My Lady" LaanXoan whispers, "You're even more beautiful than the legends told
I stand before you a mere mortal in your splendor, and cannot expect

A goddess of love to empathize for the upcoming tragedies of war for my people.
I bare only the purity of my soul and the warmth of my heart for you and this..."
LaanXoan reaches underneath her breastplate and pulls out the medallion of Mercuria

Forged by Hephaestus in Olympus and given to LaanXoan's father by Athena
As a token of their forbidden love. LaanXoan was born near the river styx
Where Athena bathed her daughter in it before handing her to her father, Mercurio.

The medallion is said to have the power to heal and also serves as a shield of invincibility
For the wearer. Men have died countless time again and again trying to overthrow
Mercurio so that they may possess the medallion. The princess knew what LaanXoan was

Offering her, in exchange for her hand in marriage...but power and invincibility were not
Impressive to her. She again spoke to LaanXoan, "If I were a man interested in such things
That may have proven quite useful but as it stands now, my answer will still be no."

The Rose of Olympus

LaanXoan felt her heart drop with sorrow to the depths of the underworld
With Airrionna's response like daggers into her heart and soul
Her glow suddenly dimmed and her stature lessened

Airrionna fought to hold back the tears in her eyes, to resist the urge
To throw her arms around LaanXoan, as she felt her heart descending
She looked away quickly as if to brush off LaanXoan and sadly gazed up at the gods

What LaanXoan did not know was that Airrionna a few months before her 21st birthday
Had been visited by her mother while she was bathing in the palace courtyard
She spoke to her of an upcoming war and betrayel to her family

If she were to marry before her 23rd birthday, there would be blood shed across the lands
And so Airrionna has been turning away all their suitors...for fear of the outcome of the prophecy
LaanXoan had been one of the few that touched her soul with such intensity and passion

LaanXoan did not want to leave, for her heart and soul screamed for her to do something
To win the princess, for it was not just her kingdom in danger that prompted her to weather
The journey to Arborlon, to not eat or sleep for the last 3 days and nights

She had known she was meant for Airrionna since she was 17, and heard of the birth
Of a beautiful princess, whose eyes shimmered in the darkness like the moon
Whose lips were like rose petals, delicate full and crimson

She waited 22 years, to approach her 10 days before her 22nd birthday
To ask her hand in marriage...to win her heart, mind, body, and soul
She approached her putting her arm around the princess's waist

Pulling her close to her, the princess fell willingly back, her cheek touching LaanXoan's
She could feel the softness and heat burning under the skin
LaanXoan rests her lips against her ears and whispers

"I have waited all my life for this day my love, I will not give up for you are worth
More than anything any mortal can give you, I know that and will not bore you with treasures
But I will return in 10 days, on your 22nd birthday, with a gift to prove my devotion to you"

The princess turned to look at LaanXoan and their lips met with the fire of the gods
Softly and gently they kissed at first, then passion set in,
Slowly and deeply they kissed, until the candles in the pantheon expired

And Apollo had drawn his chariot across the sky, LaanXoan's eyes moist from tears
For Airrionna was beyond her expectation, her beauty from the inside out radiated within her
She did not want to leave, but woo the princess she must, for no was not an option

The princess stood motionless as she watched LaanXoan mount her steel horse
Revving them up and putting on her helmet, Airrionna's heart beating so fast
It would burst from her chest to chase after LaanXoan if it could

LaanXoan looked at her princess one more time, captivated by her presence
She then turned and headed towards Olympus, a forbidden act of any mortal
But she was determined to bring her love the only thing more breathtaking than her princess

The Rose of Olympus

Mount Olympus

On top of the highest mountain of Greece, lied Olympus
It took LaanXoan 3 days to travel up the mountain
Beating the Banshedians, outsmarting the Larsentios

Until she arrived at the gates of Olympus
Guarded by Xernius, a troll like creature
Whose head was twice the size of his body

His eyes of molten lava, his teeth like broken rocks
His speech, slow and deep, like the lion's roar
He would not let any mortal pass

Unless they answered his question
If anyone ever got the answer right is not known
For no one has ever come back to tell

LaanXoan and her steel horse approached the gates
She cut off the engine but did not dismount
Her eyes starburst hazel, with the glow of love

And determination behind them, she gazed
Into the molten pools of Xernius as he
Bellowed to her with his snake tongue

"Mortal, dare you defy the Gods and Goddesses
Trespassing on Olympian soil!" His voice stern
The ground tremored lightly as he spoke

"Xernius, I have a quest burning from my chest
Spawned by the great Eros and Aphrodite
For true love has brought me before you

To gain access so that I may prove myself worthy
Of a Princess' love, of her hand in marriage
For I am daughter of Athena, and a descendant of Hephaestus

My breastplate and medallion welded by his very hands
I demand the question so that I may enter the gates
To fulfill my destiny and prove my devotion."

Xernius looked at LaanXoan with fiery eyes that judged
Her dark hair reflected the sunset like a brilliant diamond
She was like the amazons, stoic, yet exotic

He had no choice but to ask the question, for she was only half mortal
He had to give her the opportunity, he had to ask the question
He bellowed again, this time much slower than the first

"What is greater than Zeus, but held in plethora by the poor
Needed by the rich, and if you were to eat it, you would die."
Xernius swiftly stared back and LaanXoan awaiting the answer

LaanXoan repeated the question in her head several times,
Analyzing the question, pondering its solution but she was clueless
It was almost dawn when it finally came to her and she did not hesitate

"Xernius! I have your answer, come show yourself so that I may
Enter the gates of Olympus, so that I may continue onward
To my next destination." LaanXoan stood and waited for the troll

When he appeared, he looked smug, ready to cast her from the mountain
"Your answer, sire, is nothing, for nothing is greater than Zeus, the poor
Own nothing, the rich need nothing and I, if I eat nothing, will most surely die."

Xernius' smirk turned into a snarl as he gazed at LaanXoan with distaste
"You...are correct. I will grant you access to Olympus, but I warn you
The Gods do not take kindly to trespassers." And he waved his hand,

And the gate opened. LaanXoan revved up her bike and drove through
The mystics say the Rose is near Apollo's home
As to not draw attention to herself

She left Xenna in a safe spot close to the gate and traveled on foot
Toward the sun god's house, following the sound of the lyre
Since Apollo loved to play, she was able to find his home in no time

The garden was behind his house, full of every plant imaginable
But the rose stood alone in the center, glowing red
With sparkling dew and thorns so thick, she dared not touch them

She easily plucked up the rose when she noticed the silence
Fear raced in her heart and soon she found Apollo's stern face
Eyes red like mars, with yellowish glow underneath

"How dare you trespass in my garden! Tell me how does a mortal
Enter the gates of Olympus? I should smite down Xernius with my own hands!"
Apollo's anger was mounting the longer he looked at LaanXoan.

"Forgive me great Apollo, I am humbled by your presence and wish no harm
I am here by will of Eros and Aphrodite to prove myself to the princess
And win her heart, mind and soul in marriage." LaanXoan said looking away

From Apollo's threatening stare. "And what would a suitor want with my garden
For pleasures of the flesh require no organic matter, love is not grown here,
There is no potion to be made, nothing to be desired from the thorn,
How is it that you derive my garden to be the place of your worthiness?"

"Great Apollo, I understand you to be a lover of music are you not?"
Apollo looked perplexed by the question, for it had nothing to do with his
"Yes, I am a lover of music but I fail to see your point or relevance mortal."

"When you hear music so beautiful, so pure, so perfect that it moves your soul
Do you not wish you could pluck out the notes and keep them perfect through out all time?"
"If it were possible, I would yes." Apollo said, still unsure what trickery was

Flowing through LaanXoan for this had nothing to do with love
"My Princess' beauty is surpassed only by this single rose
which represents her beauty both inside and out

The perils I have endured to retrieve this rose
Clearly portray my devotion and willingness to sacrifice for her
My one true love, the one I adore, the one I will marry"

Apollo looked heartily at LaanXoan, he had no respect for love
But the fact that this mortal had made it into Olympus through
Sheer bravery and sacrifice, such fashion of great warriors

Earned his respect. "You may have that rose mortal but I will
Ask a favor of you later, one you shall not refuse for if you do
I will smite you down myself with the fury of the Fates."

"Yes great Apollo, I will honor your request when that time comes
And thank you for your graciousness." LaanXoan said and quickly
Made haste toward Xenna. The rose she put carefully put in her

Saddlebag and rode with flames down the mountain, toward Arborlon
And would arrive just two days before the princess' birthday
Just in time to wed her before the spring celebration

Of the return of Persephone. There would be a full moon
And LaanXoan's content made her careless for she did not
Realize she was being dangerously followed by something...

Even the Gods fear...for it is evil to the nth power
So vile and corrupt, that death and destruction are left
In its company...if she knew of this evil, she would not have left so hastily...

The Dark Rider, Queen LaanXoan

The night fell upon LaanXoan as she neared the bottom of the mountain
Her body could not endure another sleepless night, she had to rest
She found a cave a little way down from Mount Olympus

She pulled into the cave, the roar of steel shaking it like a great quake
Cutting the engine off, she rested her trusty steel horse and dismounted
Her eyes burned, singed from exhaustion, her mind weak and tired

She started a fire and sat against the wall, soon sleep overcame her
Athena visited her that night, while comatose, to warn her of the danger
To warn her of the presence catching up to LaanXoan, her favored daughter

"Laan, you must hear me, for you are in danger and I cannot intervene
There is a darkness unsurpassed that narrows its grip upon you as I speak
From Olympus, an ancient evil even we Gods and Goddesses dare not invoke

But your horses have awakened it and it is coming for you and all those you love
You cannot return to your sweet princess now, you must ride to Athens and speak
To my oracle, for I will have something waiting you there my dark rider

Only with this, will you be able to defeat the Dacktordath, the spirit of darkness,
Of evil, of death, this is your destiny, this is your hour of honor and greatness
You must awaken and ride, ride to Athens, as fast as you can, now."

With that she kissed her daughter on the cheek and disappeared
LaanXoan awakened, started, the smoldered fire in front of her
As dawn approached quickly, she gathered some breakfast to strengthen her

She mounted Xenna, revved, and started towards Athens, for she did not dare
Go against her mother's wishes, it would take her 2 days and nights
Until she reached the gates of Athens, to speak with the oracle

Dacktordath is a great plague, no one speaks of it out of fear
And LaanXoan is not sure why or how she has awakened this horror
But she must prevent it from taking over Greece, even at the cost of her life

Once she got to Athens, she would send a message to Airrionna
Her vision was what kept LaanXoan strong, kept her vigilant
For the love and passion burning within her would be her strength

Athens great gates came before her, her body shaking from exhaustion
She gained access to the city and rode toward the shrine of Athena
Her Mother's statue towered above the city and she marveled its greatness

The oracle was waiting for her, she dismounted and walked into the shrine
"I have been waiting for you Queen LaanXoan," the oracle spoke softly
Her eyes like water, her body boney thin, as if the wind would carry her away

Even with a cloak, LaanXoan could tell the oracle was frail. Her voice soft
Like the spring winds gently passing through the forest and valleys
She was hunched over, and her blonde hair pulled back to reveal her

Smooth forehead that shone even in the darkness, LaanXoan had never
Met such a frail being as the oracle, and she studied her intently
The oracle feeling the stares of LaanXoan blushed and quickly spoke

"Wait here, while I return with Athena's gift for you." She disappeared
Into the shrine and LaanXoan watched the sunrise. It was two days before
The Princess' birthday, she had not expected to be delayed and her heart

Was saddened by the thought she would not be there in time
The oracle returned with armor so brilliant, it sparked and reflected
Every small trace of light, like sparkles of dew on the grass in the morning light

She also gave her a feather, a golden feather
"The great goddess did not give any instruction other than to give these to you."
The oracle said almost apologetically, and she dared not look up at LaanXoan

Still blushing and nervous in her presence, the oracle stood staring at the stoned floor.
LaanXoan put the armor on and it fit perfectly as she knew it would
She put the feather against her heart under the breastplate and looked at the oracle

"I need to send a message, where can I find the messengers of the city?"
The oracle pointed down to the town square and LaanXoan kissed her hand
And thanked her. She asked to be alone in the shrine to speak with her mother

The oracle nodded and disappeared behind the walls. There was a sacrificial area
And her mother's statue stood beautifully behind it. LaanXoan kneeled and spoke
"Mother, I thank you for the gifts and your kindness, you are gracious as you are

Beautiful and wise. The feather I am not sure its purpose, but I will keep it with me
At all times. Can you tell me how I am to defeat this dark spirit unless I am to fight
It with sword and shield. My mind and heart tell me that is not the way of battle

For this beast, this darkness, and I am not sure how I am to go about it."
The statue came to life and Athena looked down upon her daughter with kind
Eyes and her voice echoed softly in the shrine as she spoke to her

"You are correct my child, you will not be able to use force in this battle to overcome
The dark spirit, you must be cunning, swift, and recognize what the armor really is for
But I cannot tell you how to defeat it for you must figure that out in order to prove

Yourself for this is your destiny." She disappeared and the statue returned to its
Normal form before LaanXoan could speak again, disheartened, she arose and
Headed for the town square, but first she reached into her saddlebag and pulled

Out the rose of Olympus. The oracle returned and LaanXoan asked for a box
And parchment and ink, so she may write out what may very will be her last words
Of devotion and love for her Princess. The oracle returned with all that LaanXoan

Had asked for. LaanXoan sat against Xenna and wrote the words flowing from her heart

Dearest Love, Sweetest Flower, My precious Princess Airrionna,
I am delayed in returning to your glorious presence,
your beauty reflecting in my mind like

the sun against the water, timeless and breathtaking.
I may not return to you my Princess for Dacktordath
has begun his descent into Greece and I must stop it.

But my love for you fills my chest so there is no room for fear.
Only love, love for you my precious. I send to you the Rose of Olympus,
a token of my devotion, a mirror of your beauty, for none is more fairer than you.

You have my heart, mind and soul captivated...completely. There is nothing
I would not undertake in your name. I would travel to the underworld to save you
if pressed. I would take on a thousand Dacktordaths to prove my love to you.

Your beauty like the rose, your sweetness like ambrosia of the Gods,
your soul as pure as light, I bathe in all your splendor every second
I am away from you. You are my life, my soul thought, and my purpose.

If I do not return, know that I love you, and will always love you for time,
death, and darkness cannot keep me from you, my dearest Airrionna.
Love eternally, LaanXoan your dark rider and devoted love

She kissed the parchment and put it in the box with the rose and headed
To the Town Square where she found a messenger who promised to have the box
Delivered in a day. This calmed LaanXoan as she walked back to the shrine

And mounted Xenna. She would now have to find Dacktordath, even though she
Was not prepared for the battle. She needed sleep. She needed her love.
But she rode despite it all, for she knew she had her destiny to fulfill...

The Black Prince of Lathodarse

With evil grin and fowl mouth
The Black Prince looks towards Greece
His plot for blood and vengeance thickening

"Sire, scouts report the Queen leaving from Athens
After speaking to the oracle, with new amour
Riding into the mountains" the messenger boy blurts out

With the meek voice of puberty
The Black Prince's smile broadened
"So, the Queen will battle our summoned fiend,"

He let out an evil deep laugh, like the sound of
The hyena, irritant and air cutting
His dark eyes matched by his dark hair

Wavy curls, he had yet to find a woman who could resist
His dark charm, except one who refused and disgraced him
And she was on her way to a swift death he prayed

Prince Zornath, heir to the throne of Lathodarse
He had a reputation for taking on land via marriage
And his wives would mysteriously die soon after

Although they seemed natural, Zornath's black aura infused
With greed and thirsty for power would show otherwise
For he was a dark magician, one that LaanXoan should not have crossed

Despite his darkness, he truly did love her as much as he was capable of love
He wanted her to bare his children, to take over Greece
To rule the new world at his side, as one invincible force

But she would not have it, she turned him down
Bitterly so, he wooed her with gifts, with poetry
With such unspeakable treasures paid for with the blood

Of his own warriors, but she was not interested
His desire increasing with each rejection, he finally visited her kingdom
To ask her hand in marriage and offer her the golden mark of Poseidon

She shunned him away, telling him she would find more inspiration amongst
A pool of tad poles, that the mere sight of him made her sick and she wanted
Nothing more from him. He was to leave her kingdom and never to return

Infuriated by her insults and angered by her rejection
He entered her chambers that night, planning to force her into submission
He had not counted on the Queen having weapons at her bedside

For she slept with one eye open and saw him coming before he realized it
She slashed his face, barely missing his eye
When he tried to conjour the dark magic against her

Her lightning speed caught him off guard
And she had him pinned against the palace walls
With eyes fire green from anger and adrenaline

He thought she was going to kill him right then and there
But something caught her from within, and the green subsided
To a starburst Hazel and she spoke to him through her teeth

"Zornath, you have threatened me the last time
I banish you from my kingdom, with the curse of Fates' sirens
If you ever step foot on Mercurian soil again, it will be your last"

With that she picked him up by the throat and threw him off the balcony
Where he was greeted by the stone ground, and blacked out
His henchmen soon found him and they were escorted from Mercuria

Since that day, he swore vengeance against the Queen
He prepared his horses to ride to Arborlon
To take the hand of the fair Princess Airrionna

Smiling from the cold darkness that froze in his heart
He would marry the fair princess and take her kingdom
Then, he would kill her in front of the Queen

For he knew the Queen's weakness was her love
And heroic nature. To watch a loved one die
Unable to stop it, would haunt her for an eternity

That is if she was able to defeat the Dacktordath
An ancient evil he conjoured from the Cerdiasne
The dark book of tongues he found on his

Last visit to Egypt, crossing the Nile and into the golden kingdom
The Pharoah's alliance with him would be a short lived one
For once he has Arbolon, he will have all he needs to conquer the world

As he rode off towards Arbolon, he rubbed his scar
As if it soothed him, he would wed Princess Airrionna tomorrow night
Shortly after her birthday celebration with or without her consent

For he was bringing his own priest and a small army to ensure his victory
He would, He must succeed, and soon the world will feel the wrath
Of the dark prince and his vile magic...no one could stop him, or so he thought...

Meanwhile, LaanXoan was just outside of Athens, searching for the ancient Dacktordath
When she was knocked off Xenna by an invisible force
As she got back up, she was surrounded by darkness

She couldn't breath, it was Dacktordath, it had found her
And was suffocating her, she cleared her mind and focused
"recognize what the armor is really for", she heard her mother's voice

Darkness, her lungs were tightening, struggling, she lifted her shield and started to spin
Spinning to catch any and all light that was seeping in, to reflect
For the only way to defeat the darkness is with light

She remembered how the armor reflected any light it received
Even in the darkness, there was light seeping in and she spun
The Dacktordath started to bellow for the light was starting to take over

Soon the rays were cutting through it and LaanXoan spun faster
She lowered herself to create more reflective surface until an explosion
Of light erupted from within Dacktordath and there was a shrieking howl

Echoing through the mountains, and like a cloud, the remaining darkness floated away
All that was left was the body of one dark rider, motionless, and near death
For she had spun even when she had no breath and she had collapsed just as

Dacktordath was defeated...she was not breathing...and she was not really alive
The golden feather under her breastplate glowed and her soul started to rise
Then like the lightning from the sky, a great phoenix descended from Olympus

The phoenix went to LaanXoan's corpse, putting its beak on the Queens face and a single tear
Rolled from the phoenix onto LaanXoan's lips, and then into her mouth
The rising soul shot back into her body and she violently shook

Coughing and startled by the phoenix, she rolled quickly away and got up prepared to battle
The phoenix stood there looking at LaanXoan as if awaiting orders
LaanXoan studied the phoenix, feathers like gold and fire, glowing like lava

The feather under her breastplate was still glowing and started to react with the metal
Soon the water turned to fire and her armor that was once like 3000 tears
Turned into a blaze like the phoenix, the heat searing against her body

Then LaanXoan remembered the ancient stories of the phoenix...and she relaxed her stance
"Thank you my friend, is this your feather I wear under my armor?"
The phoenix nodded and looked at LaanXoan with great admiration

They stared at each other for quite sometime, until LaanXoan broke the silence
"I will call you Xionne, my fiery companion. For now fly and be free my pet,
I will call upon you when you are needed again. But first, visit my mother Athena

And give her this," Laanxoan took out a bottle she had under the shield.
"It is what remains of the Dacktordath, in case he is not truly defeated.
Ask her if there is a way to prevent the spirit from rising again."

Xionne took the bottle and nodded. The great phoenix shot back towards Olympus.
LaanXoan picked up Xenna, whose impenetrable steel was intact even after crashing
Against the tree. She revved her up, and sped full throttle to Arborlon...

Something told her to hurry, that her love was in danger,
That this was no accident and a greater evil was at work,
Mercury whispered Aphrodite's message to LaanXoan, and headed back to Olympus...

Apollo's Favor

LaanXoan rode through the night
Apollo's Chariot burst through the sky
Her eyes adjusting to the emergence of light

Apollo spotted the Queen's lighting across the terrain
And descended upon her as his horses kept on track as trained
LaanXoan almost ran over the God, screeching and sliding to a stop just

Inches before him, he smiled at her with a cunning grin
"You are quite the skilled rider my Queen, I am impressed."
"You are lucky, I almost hit you sire. I am on an urgent

Mission and must ask you speak in haste God of war, for
Someone very dear to me is in grave danger."
"I know, I come to remind you of the Favor you owe me."

LaanXoan's heart sunk, surely he couldn't have picked a better time
To cash in the favor, she would have to make a choice, love
Or honor, she narrowed her eyes of disappointment on the great God.

"Speak, what is it you wish of me, I will honor it as promised."
He smiled and then handed her a brilliant sword, clear like crystal
Light like a feather, yet sharp like deadly talons, the sword was stunning.

She looked up at him waiting for the favor, knowing she would have to kill
"Right now as we speak, a dark magician rides to threaten Greece.
My prophecy tells me he is going to kill my lover, Prince Theos of Crete,

If he is not stopped. I should warn you that you will not want to face him,
You will not survive unless it under cloak of disguise, you should sneak into
The servants area, and find a suitable servant cloth. After the celebration

Keep close eye on the princess, for she is in great danger as are you
Slay the dark prince, and your debt to me will be repaid
Fail, and I shall seek vengeance upon your family dark rider."

With that he leaped back into the sky and LaanXoan made some
Modifications to Xenna's pipes...silencing them a bit...
She quietly revved up and proceeded to Arbolon

When she got there, it was 3 hours before the celebration was to begin.
She found an entrance to the servant area, and grabbed a cloak to shield her and
Her weapons, she rested in the shadows of the great hall waiting for the dark prince

Apollo spoke of, she prayed she would recognize him when he came in.
She caught a vision of the princess happily scurrying around, delegating duties
For her celebration, a messager came to her with a box and LaanXoan watched intently

As the princess thanked the messenger and she opened the box.
LaanXoan could see her lips open as she gasped and pulled out the rose.
She looked around and went to the corner of the hall, taking a seat and

Opening up the letter. LaanXoan could see the princess' expression as she read
Covering her mouth and then watching her fight back the tears
The princess folded up the note and gently put the rose and note back into the box

She disappeared into the hallway leading to the back of the palace
Her walk increasing as she tried to make it to her room to cry
LaanXoan was saddened by the Princess' sadness...she wanted run after the her

Hold her and tell her that she was alive but she would be putting them both in danger
She lurked in the shadows until more guests entered the hall and the music started
Her anger mounted when she saw Prince Zarnoth, it took all her wits to withhold

Her from attacking him. She stopped for her love for the Princess was much more
Than her hate for the Black Prince. He seemed more arrogant than normal
Then it struck her, he was the Black Prince Apollo spoke of, he was the one

She would have to kill, for Apollo, for Greece, only then would
The darkness subside, she almost felt remorse for it was not her nature
To be so hateful, but for him, she held the most contempt

Shortly after his arrival, the Black Prince's messenger delivered some good news
"The Queen had fallen after her battle with the Dacktordath"
The messenger boy said, and left the great hall with haste

The Black Prince had someone following LaanXoan
But the scouts had only watched the battle up to the point
The Dacktordath swallowed LaanXoan

So as far as the Prince knew, LaanXoan was dead
And his heart filled with joy, he relaxed and became more
Confident that there would be nothing to stop him

LaanXoan did not emerge from the shadows as the great Hall filled up
The princess returned, her eyes red from crying, but she smiled
Smiled and socialized even though she had resolved that LaanXoan had died

But LaanXoan noticed she would look around the room anxiously from time to time
Perhaps looking for her, she could not tell, but she kept a watchful eye on her beloved
As well as the Black Prince, her anger mounting against him

The collision of darkness: Magician vs. Rider

The evening was coming to an end
People had filled their stomachs with splendor
Their minds with music

And their soul with dance
There was a calm lull that echoed in the hall
The Princess needing to break from it all

Headed down the royal hall to her bedroom.
The Dark Prince motioned to his men to rise and follow
They followed the Princess noticed only by LaanXoan

The Prince left two men guarding the hallway
Whilst he, the priest and four others headed down the hall
LaanXoan knew she didn't have time to waste

She ran around the back towards the side
And climbed up the vines to the Princess' room
She heard screaming and yelling and her heart filled with darkness

"Leave this room at once, I command that you leave."
"Ah my fair Princess, I don't think you are in the position to command
Anything. For you see, you are at my command now."

His men laughed cockily so and the Prince's smile maliciously glowed
"You see, I will be king of Arbolon and you my little trophy," He undressed her
With his eyes, and touched her as she grabbed his hand and pushed it away

He laughed, "You will be mine soon enough, willingly, or not."
He motioned for the priest, "See my dear right now there are four of my soldiers
Ready to slay your father after I give them the signal

And when I become king and tire of your," he licked his lips and looked at her
like the wolf does when half starved from the winter, "softness, you will become
a forgotten wench, locked up in the tower forever my private prisoner."

The men laughed at that and poked each other. The priest awaited orders
While LaanXoan eyed the situation, she analyzed the best angle of attack
To get to the Prince first, and then take out his henchmen

The priest raised the book and the Princess spit on the dark Prince
"I will not marry you, I would rather die than to marry the likes of you.
My heart, my mind, my soul you shall never have." She said and he

Slapped her swiftly as she whimpered. That was it, LaanXoan could not
Hold her anger any longer. With the speed of the cheetah, she entered the room
The men too engrossed in the Prince's manhandling of the Princess to notice her

And she jumped into the air, across the room, Apollo's sword entering the dark
Prince's chest, piercing into him so easily, he stood motionless. She then pulled it out of him
And he fell to the floor, blood gushing from him, he grabbed his heart and started chanting

Twirling around she then took out two guards with one swish of the sword
The other two came at her and she ducked and killed one of them as if a ballerina
Graceful even in battle, the last guard tried to run out the door for reinforcement and

She threw the sword spot on, through his skull, a crackling sound echoed in the room
Blood drenched, the Queen turned to the princess, "You must go find the generals and warn them
I have to save your father." She looked at the Priest who fell to his knees and begged for

His life. She picked him up by the throat, looking into his soul, as he shivered cowardly
And he had a heart attack right in her hand, and died instantaneously. She dropped him
To the ground and felt sorry for him. She felt the soft touch of the Princess who turned her

Around and kissed her so passionately, LaanXoan felt the world move underneath her,
The stars shining above her, and the air curling around her. "Thank you for saving me."
"You are not saved yet, my Princess, there is an army to deal with. Please, find the generals

gather the army quickly up front. I will close the palace doors so your guests will not be
in danger. But you must go now." The Princess nodded as LaanXoan grabbed the sword
from the skull, pulling it out quickly. "You must not go out the front, here

we will climb down the vines." They quickly climbed down and the Princess ran to the generals'
quarters. LaanXoan threw off the bloody servants cloak, wiping the blood from sword
Vengence in her heart, she swifly entered the hall and headed for the King.

She spotted the four men around the king. Two other men still guarding the hall
With sword tucked behind her arm, she came up behind two of the men next to
The king, slashing them both in the throat and they fell instantly

Silently like the fog creeping into the valley, she approached the other two men
Stabbing one through the heart and the other through the stomach
Neither of them saw or heard her coming and no one around them

Saw either, except one of the two men on the other side caught a glimpse of their
Falling peer and quickly motioned to the other and they ran towards the Queen
With weapons drawn. The Queen quickly ran to the doors of the hall and locked them

As the men came at her, a sword fight ensued and soon she had slain one of the men
The other was a master swords man and fought her vigilantly, but ultimately
Over swung his sword once which gave the Queen the opportunity to thrust her sword

Into the pit of his stomach, blood dripping from his mouth as he fell
By this time there was panic in the hall and the kings guards started to come at the
Queen, when she yelled "Nendhal! Call off your men for your daughter and kingdom

Are in grave danger. You must trust me for we have no time. I do not wish to kill
Anymore than I have to, I am merely protecting you from the Dark Prince's men
Who were ordered to stay near your side and kill you once the Prince had commanded."

The men still came at the Queen and she dodged them running towards the king
As people screamed and jumped out of her way, fearful of their own lives
The King realizing his daughter was no where in sight called off his men and

Motioned for LaanXoan to come closer to him. She walked before him and kneeled
"Your majesty, your daughter has run to get your generals for right now there are
150 men outside this palace wall, awaiting the Dark Prince's orders to strike you

Down. These are no ordinary men, these are men trained in the way of Sparta
Which will prove a worthy adversary for your troops. Please take heed this warning
You do not have time to doubt me but must trust that I am telling you the truth."

The King gazed at the dark rider, her armour of flames shining brightly,
His face aged and kind, but stern and belevolent, he studied the rider
With his ice blue eyes, she was covered in blood and must have slain

A dozen men. If she were out to kill him, she no doubt would have
Succeeded by now. He resolved to trust her and spoke gently "Rider,
If what you say is true then my guests and myself are in grave danger.

How is it you suppose we are to defeat this army? Do you know or have
A plan?" He motioned to his men and to the guests so that they would
Calm themselves so he could think and listen, the Dark Rider rose

And looked at the king with her brilliant fire green eyes burning with
Vengeance, she spoke firmly to him without hesitation, "My lord, for you
To take the men the only advantage you have is that of surprise

But nay, you will lose many men before victory, for these men
Are not your ordinary ones, these are men who have been bred
by blood and sword, who dream of nothing but a worthy opponent

And death, these are unlike any foe you will ever encounter for they fight
Not as individuals but as one. I have asked your daughter to bring your men
To the front but as for a plan, I am afraid I do not have one now."

The King's eyes shallowed and he motioned to one of his men to come close
He whispered in his ear and soon the warrior was runing out the back
Towards Crete, to per the King's order, ask for the alliance of the wizards'

Hand in battle. He then turned to the dark rider and spoke firmly, "Rider
I name you general and ask that you lead my men against this foe.
I trust you will command my men with the heart of a lion and the brilliance

Of Apollo. Guests, please remain in the hall until we have weathered this
Evil. Rider, you must go now." And with that she shot out the back, mounting
Xenna and headed to the front of the kingdom. Upstairs in the Princess's chambers

Was a murmur, as the chanting still was going on for you see, the Prince was not dead
Had LaanXoan been more aware of her opponent, she would have slit his throat
For he was using the dark magic to heal himself, and he was almost done with the spell...

The Retreat

Drenched in blood, the Prince finished his last verse
And although the wound was healed
He was left weak from the loss of blood.

Climbing slowly down the vines
He slithered in the darkness
To meet his waiting men

He would not fight today
He was too proud of a man
To not be part of the battle

As the hate raged inside him for the Queen
He would not let her live even at the cost
Of his own miserable life.

There was an awkward silence
Broken up by the nervous breath of men
Awaiting to embrace their death

LaanXoan stood at the head of the army
And she sensed something was not quite right.
She got on all fours and howled like the great white wolf

In the distance there were howls returned
For it is a little known secret that the Queen
Had an elite army of misfits whom

She trusted with the most secretive of assignments
Oounakii, pronounced (oo - na - key) in Mercurian,
Meant unique, distinct, irreplicable.  This was her personal army.

And it was their howls, returned for the Queen
Annoouncing a retreat of the Prince
And that he was weak but still alive.

Disheartened and enraged, the Queen turned
Swiftly heading for her cycle
When she felt a soft shaking hand

Grab her arm and turn her around.
"You cannot leave us now." Airrionna said
There was a shaking in her voice

One that the Queen could not help but stop
And console her.  "My love, you are safe for now.
The Prince as we speak rides back to his homeland.

He will be back, but I fear, it is my people he will come
For first, and so, I must return to my home and
Prepare them for battle."  The Queen said,

Softly holding her princess' trembling hand.
"No I cannot let you face that vile man alone.
We must join forces, we must come up with a strategy."

The Queen softly smiled at her, and took both hands into hers.
"My princess, now is not the time for us to join armies.  Your
Army is more useful here, in case he comes for your kingdom again.

Do not worry, I will come up with one soon enough or die trying.
If we lose, I will be sure messengers are sent your way."  With that
She softly kissed both hands and proceeded to ride to Olympus.

She knew she didn't have time, but she had to make it
She had to find Xionne, for the feather of the great phoenix
Would save her people now.  It was the only defense against

The dark magic of the Prince.  As she rode off the
Princess watched with teary eyes, because she felt
That this was the last time she would see her dark rider alive.

The Cursed Sword

She had rode all along the mountain, in search of the great phoenix.
Her body shaking from fatigue, her stomach wincing from hunger
She could not remember the last time she ate nor slept...

Both of which were welcomed luxuries to her at this stage of her journey.
It was growing dark and she had to find shelter, fortunately at the same cave
She found last time.  The hard ground welcomed her as she dozed off instantaneously.

Athena appeared to her, her tunic flowing with the mist she traveled upon.
"My daughter, you cannot sleep long, you must keep moving.  Apollo's blood runs
Thick with anger at your failure, luckily I reminded him that he was just as much

At fault as you, for not providing you with a more apt weapon.  You know Gods are not
Quick to admit fault.  He is willing to overlook this one because you still have a chance
To save his lover.  But if you are to succeed you must be more aware of your opponent Laan.

Every being, every force, every entity has an exception, it is this fault you must
Open all your senses to...awaken them and let them guide you to it.
But be warned, the Dark Prince is also a descendant of Hades.  His unpredictable

Uncle Poseidon is in his dark corner as well.  We will do our best to level the battle field
If either intervene but recognize that as Apollo and I are here with you, Poseidon and Hades are
There with him.  Which is why I have sent you this, the cursed sword."

LaanXoan whispered in her sleep, "Why do I need that, my sword is good."
Her mother motioned for her to be silent.  "This is not an ordinary sword Laan.
This sword is made from the cold, metal dead trees of the underworld.  It cannot be broken.

It feeds on life force and blood.  Death is unavoidable for any whose flesh is severed
by the blade.  It must not fall into the hands of the Dark Prince.
For even your enchantment of the river Styx is no match."

Laan held the sword but then it appeared to fight her
Whisking left and right, she awoke to not only the sword in her hand
But a fiery Xionne watching her every move.

"Ah, I have been looking for you my friend.  Was it you that
Delivered this sword from my mother?"  The bird nodded.
"Thank you.  I need a favor from you, a feather if you would"

The majestic bird extended both wings, reaching nearly 12 feet apart.
LaanXoan took a feather as the bird cried out from the small pain.
"Thank you my pet, thank you."  She petted Xionne on the beak

And the bird rubbed against her hand like a cat, as a melodic hum
Came from within his chest.  Then he nodded and extended his wings
As he flew back towards the top of the mountain.

The sword was fidgeting in LaanXoan's hand.  Her mother had not
Told her the sword would fight her.  She tried holding it with both hands,
Which only made it swing more wildly.  She tried to fight against it

But soon found herself tiring on the wasted energy.  Surely there must
Be a way to get the sword to submit to her.  After a few minutes of idle
Swinging, it came to her.  "A tree." She said out loud.

Then she began to run, into the nearby forest.  She leaped and started to cut branches.
The sword appeared horrified, fighting against her even more, as it took life force from the
Trees in a cannibalistic manner.  "Submit."  The Queen said, but the sword still fought.

Again, she leaped, chopping, cutting, a whirlwind of branches left behind her as the
Sword started to vibrate and glow reddish green.   The Queen started to move even faster
Until the resistance stopped.  And the sword's glow was reduced to a tawny brown ember.

"Have we reached an understanding?" The sword vibrated as if to answer her question.
LaanXoan looked amongst the fallen debris for seeds, which she found a handful.  She used the sword
To break the earth, and planted the young trees as if to make peace with the sword.

The sword understood her gesture, and from that moment on, submitted to the Queen.
She headed back to the cave and gathered her gear, the feather, and rode towards Mercuria
As she did she thought to herself that there were traitors amongst her, she should

Have a word with her generals immediately upon her return, but first, she would have to
Protect herself from the sword turning on her.  She would have to bond a drop of her blood to it
So that it could not hurt her.  As Mercury's whispers stopped and he headed back to Haphaestos.

Mercuria, The Metallic Kingdom

Nestled in the navel of the Himalayas, lied her cherished home
A kingdom few ever graced eyes upon due to the unkind mountains
A natural moat to guard against unwelcomed travelers.

As she reached the gates, a most welcomed sight of splendor
The shiney sparkling of the kingdom walls, reflective dances of light
And the sweet smell of melting metals, it was good to be home.

Entering the Gates as the guards bowed before her, the citizens of Mercuria
Smiled and bowed welcoming home their fearless Queen
As kids screamed in excitement over Xenna's purring flames.

Her first stop, the smither's corner, she dismounted and headed in
To speak her cherished friend, Pathorg, the most skilled blacksmith in
The world who could possibly rival Haphaestos.

"Pathorg, my friend, a word with you if you would in your private chambers."
The old man looked up at the Queen, his soft gray eyes magnified with spectacles
He escorted the Queen to his office, and closed the door behind them.

"How may I serve you, my Queen."  The humble Pathorg bowed before the Queen.
"Pathorg, how many times do I have to tell you I do not need you to bow before me.
Rise, as I have important matters to discuss and need your skills."

The old man rose and took a seat at his desk as the Queen sat in front of him.
"The Black Prince approaches, I will need you to forge our army new armor
With this submerged in the liquid salt." She showed Pathorg the Phoenix feather.

Pathorg's jaged smile broaden for the word of work excited him.  He took the feather
And studied it. "The feather of a Phoenix, I have only heard of this ancient technique
Bonding the feather with the metal amplifies the life force of the beholder.

Making it appear if you would to have intelligence, reacting to defend, smite, or avoid
Without thought, becoming one with its master.  Oh this is truly a glorious day
For Mercuria.  With this, our army will have an advantage unlike any others."

"Precisely my old friend, precisely.  In addition, I need a favor right now."
She took out her pocket knife and pricked the inside of her cheek in her mouth
Drawing a drop of blood and placing it on the Cursed Sword.

"I need you to bond my blood to this sword."  The Queen handed the sword to Pathorg.
"Oh my."  He gasped as he held it in his hands, careful not to let the blood fall from
The hilt.  "I recognize the work of the great god smith, but this material is not like

Anything I have seen in all my years."  Pathorg marveled at the sword, studying it closely.
"No my friend, it is made from the dead trees of Hades."  She said as she watched Pathorg
Dip the sword with blood into the pool of heated salt, bonding the blood instantaneously

To the sword.  He cooled it and then handed it back to the Queen. "Most curious."
He said, pushing up his glasses and then placing the feather into the vat of liquid salt.
"I shall need a day for my men to forge the armor for our warriors my Queen."

"Understood, if you need anything, speak to Garag, who will make sure your requests
Are acted upon."  She rose, and excused herself but first kissing the old man's cheek
Making him blush slightly.  "You are too kind my Queen, too kind."

She left and headed on foot to her castle.  She sent a messenger to gather her generals
In her study, for an emergency meeting.  They started to file in one by one as Garag,
Her most trusted head General of the calvary, stepped forward whispering to her.

"I have heard you sense a traitor amongst us." He spoke softly as to not draw attention
To them.  The Queen nodded and motioned with her eyes to take a seat.  He acknowledged
And sat down.  "Ladies and Gentlemen, I have called you together in our gravest time of

Need.  As we speak, the dark prince marches towards our great kingdom, armed with
Weapons of darkness we have not seen since the age of Chaos, and our ancestors first
War with the Blatorgs, the ogre wizards to the north.  Therefore, I need us to strengthen our

Hearts, cleanse our minds, and energize our centers, to prepare for a most epic battle,
One I am sure will go down in history whether we live or die, as the greatest battle
In all the realm."  As she spoke she opened her senses, absorbing the energy of her

Generals, searching for the traitor.  "Sieger, Mythist, Altreon, and Garag, please step forward."
The generals rose and stood in line before her, as she paced back and forth in front of them.
"Seiger, the wizards will need to be brought together, I will need a word with them in private."

As he bowed, her sword met his neck decapitating him, the head rolled to a stop, the body dropped
To its knees and fell forward.  The glow from the sword turned red as a white cloud like essence
Seemed to disappear into it, and the blood evaporated, as if the sword was drinking it whole.

The shock amongst the generals mounted as they stood frozen in fear, eyes fixated on the Queen.
She pulled back the robe off of Seiger's neck, to reveal two glowing yellow eyes, which she blinded
With her sword.  "I believe, the traitor is no more. Altreon, please load him up into my chariot, along

With his head, do it quietly though.  I do not wish to draw attention to this incident.  Also, send for
a dozen live lambs from the nearby farmers.  I want those also on the chariot.  I have to leave shortly."
With that, Altreon bowed, picked up the head and threw the body over his shoulder, heading towards

The stables.  She turned to her generals.  "You are dismissed, prepare for battle.  Mythist and Garag,
I need you to stay."  The rest of the generals exited the room with great haste, not wanting to
Meet the same fate as their brother.  She turned to Mythist and looked her in the eyes.

"I will need you to lead the wizards.  I will also need you to uncover any white magic that we may
Find strength in.  I am sorry to put this on you my friend, but I need someone I trust to lead the
Wizards and make sure we do not fall into the dark magic of the Prince."  Mythist's iceblue eyes

Glowed as she bowed and left the room.  The Queen poured herself and Garag a glass of Mercurian nectar
And  sat next to her most trusted General and confidant.  "Garag, Pathorg may come to you with requests.
I need you to see that he gets everything he needs as he prepares our army's weapons and armor."

Garag nodded as he took the nectar from the Queen.  They both shot it down as the burn trickled down their
Chest.  "My Queen, our people are not warriors but skillers.  I fear that our men do not think they have a chance
Against this army.   There is a rumbling that you have brought this upon us selfishly, that your travels

have made you mad, and you are not acting in the best interest of our kingdom."  Garag said.  No one
Had the courage to speak to the Queen with such tact as Garag, which is why she respected and trusted him above
All others.  "I do not blame them my friend.  Perhaps I should clear the air and address the kingdom.  Make

Preparations for me to speak to them tomorrow just after Apollo's ride across the heavens.  I will try to
Address their concerns and see if we can clear their heads for battle.  Have everyone gather in the great courtyard."
She was not sure what she would say to them at the moment, but she knew Garag was right, her people were craftsmen, not warriors.

The stout Garag bowed before the Queen, his broad shoulders the likeliness of Hercules, his long black hair flowed
Forward over his face, Garag was the most handsome Mercurian in all the land, yet he had never married.
A warrior to the core, his marriage was to the kingdom and his Queen.  His beauty surpassed only by his loyalty and bravery.

He left and the Queen steadied her hand against her sword, praying to her mother silently before heading to the
Stables, her senses awakened, her eyes glowing green, and her heart pure with love and purpose.
She made way to the waiting Altreon, and her Chariot full of tasty morsels.

Misfits

She slowed the chariot as they were cloaked in darkness
The moon's sparkling rays against the lake, she let her horses and lambs
Drink from the lake as she made a fire

The chilling breath of the Anemoi dancing around them
She herded the lambs again into the chariot and sat meditating
In front of the fire.  Even though she heard the rustling in the

Distance, she continued to meditate, palms open to the sky
And eyes closed, the fire dancing shadows against her bronze
Skin, barely any motion, just a steady slow rise of her chest

As she breathed in and out.  In front of her, she had laid a parchment
One she had prepared while she was waiting for her generals
One that she had to guard at all costs.  Then suddenly the rustling stopped.

She opened her eyes, she grabbed the parchment and leaped over the fire just
As two wolves collided into each other from opposite sides
Their target was the Queen.  Then thick blue haired arms grabbed her

Picking her up off of the ground, she kicked out its knees and the ape-like
Creature hit the ground.  A hyena then snarled and tore at her cape, but
She picked it up and tossed it across the campsite.  It yelped as it bounced

Off of the ground.  Then two griffins appeared, clawing at her hair
She grabbed wood from the fire and they flew back
She never felt the spider crawling on her cape as it approached

Her neck and then down her arm as it clenched the parchment
A high pitched squeal was heard as the spider shape shifted into its
Human form, a spotted hairy youth, male, with pointy yellow hairs

"I won, I won!"  The young man danced around holding the parchment
"Oh yeah, how you like me now!"  He said to the wolves who also shape
shifted into their human form, twins, a boy and a girl.

"You just got lucky Webby...in fact she let you win."  The young man said
Raising his hand up as if to block out the boasting.
A lion and elephant joined them seconds after that, out of breath,
"Gah, I told you whiskers that we were going to be late!"

The young girl shapeshifted out of her elephant form
"Well when nature calls, you gotta listen."  The lion said, who was the only one
Who could not change forms.   The Queen smiled at her army of misfits...

Her Oounakii and motioned for them to join her at the fire.
"Well looks like Webby, you are the commanding officer on this next mission."
She said as she took a seat next to the open fire.

"My Queen, I mean no disrespect but I will not be taking orders
From a youth."   Dorian said, his lion brow furrowed as he spoke.
"Dorian, while I understand your concern you must understand

That the system of rotation I have established for the Oounakii
Is to allow all of you to grow in your skillsets, whether it be
Fighting, leading, spying, teamwork, or sabotaging,

You are all place in the commanding position because
I want you all to be great generals.  The youth cannot learn
By watching alone, they must be exposed to the opportunity

To give them the experience they need to draw from
To make decisions in life or death scenarios.  Do you understand?"
Dorian's brow relaxed as he had not thought of it that way

And replied, "My apologies my Queen, I did not view it as
Such but now see your intent."  He then turned to Webby
And said, "Okay brat, if you need advice, you better

Speak up or be my dinner."  He roared out a laughter
As Webby's color turned somewhat pale
"I kid."  Dorian said as he sat crossing his paws

In front of him.  "Speaking about dinner."  The Queen said
As she unloaded the chariot.  They all picked out a lamb,
Devouring them like a hungry pack of wolves.

The Queen dragged Sieger's body in front of Dorian.
"For you my noble friend."  Dorian's eyes lite up
And he chomped on Seiger's head as an appetizer.

She cut off a leg from a lamb, and roasted it on the fire
As the smell of singed wool filled the air.
They all gathered round the fire as they feasted.

"Talons,"  The Queen spoke as she took a bite, "Report troops."
The Griffins took turns speaking.  "1000 men, oh sorry
990 men."  The Queen looked up from her food curiously.

Webby smiled, "We got a lil hungry on our watch."
The Queen shook her head and asked, "Location?"
The Griffins responded, "14 hours away to the east."

"They have a caravan of chariots with weapons and
Rations."  She then turned to the wolf twins, "Artillery?"
The boy, Howler, spoke first, "5 chariots of Archery, spears

And swords, 30 ballistas, 20 catapults, and another 5 chariots
Of arrows and ammunition.  14 horse drawn battle chariots.
And a chariot of necessities for potions."  The girl, Taldor, spoke next

"250 each of wizards and rangers, 485 warriors, 4 cooks
And the Black Prince."  Webby spoke next, " 40 on foot,
The rest on horses.  30 generals, 10 regularly are seen

With the Black Prince."  The Queen absorbed all the information
Cataloging it in her mind for her discussion with Garag later.
"I need more time."  The Queen said taking another bite from her

Cooked lamb.  Dorian spoke, "We can set traps and sabotage
Their rations."  The Queen nodded in approval.  Webby said,
"And we can pull wheels off of chariots."  Then they started

To Brainstorm all the ways they had to make the army
Reduce to a crawl.  "Good, you have your next assignment."
The Queen said, finishing up her meal and headed back to her

Chariot, leaving the Oounakii to discuss strategy
And assignments.  As she rode back, her mind raced not
Paying attention to a black crow following her.

Then out of no where, the Griffins attacked the crow
Shredding it to pieces.  For the spy would not be letting
The Black Prince know their plans.  They returned

To the campsite.  The Oounakii each owed the Queen
Their lives.  On her travels she had saved them from
Persecution and befriended them, creating a family

Of misfits.  She personally trained them all, so they would
Fit her vision of a highly skilled diverse military force.  The
People of Mercuria feared them, but knew that the Oounakii

Were loyal to the Queen.  She gave them the surrounding
Area of the kingdom, to rule and do as they pleased
Acting as another layer of protection for the great kingdom.

And for this, they were accepted by the Mercurians.
The Queen arrived in the Kingdom, fatigued from
Her travels and the pressure of the mounting war.

A Kingdom In Peril

She arrived in her chambers at the half way mark
Of the moon.  Her eyes stung from the lack of sleep.
Her body was completely on auto-pilot.

Yet, she could not sleep.  She had to address her people
Her family, she had to unite them, inspire them,
And calm their fears.  The Prince's Army she

Had underestimated, figuring about 500 men and women
But it was double that.  Her internal conflict rose, did she
Act selfishly?  Did she endanger her entire kingdom for love?

"Eros, curse this arrow which pierces my heart and soul."
The weight of love heavy on her mind, her thoughts clouded with
Its uncertainty, she had never loved before...she had never

Felt the rise of fire burning through the walls of her chest
Yet it was all she could do to prevent herself from cutting out
Her heart and throwing it across the room.

She poured herself a shot of nectar, twisting the glass in her
Fingers as she thought of what to say...and she began to write
And write she did until the moon was almost tucked away.

Garag found the Queen asleep on a bed of parchment at her desk,
He woke her up softly, "My Queen, our people expect you within the
Hour."  She nodded, wiping the sleep out of her eyes.  She bathed

Letting the hot water soak her sore muscles.  She could have stayed there
For hours, but proceeded to get ready.  The commotion in the courtyard
Rose as the Queen stepped onto the balcony.  A hush seemed to fall over

The crowd as she acknowledged them with a nod.  "Mercuria, I am before you
Not as your Queen, not as your leader, but as your sister, your family.
I come before you not baring promises I do not intend to keep

But to tell you that, today, we are a kingdom defending against tyranny.
Many of you think I have acted selfishly, bringing this upon you...
I would say that I have not.  It was never my intention to put

The kingdom, my family, at risk.  It was never my intention
To stand before you as you cling onto your children going to war
And tell you they may die.  It was never my intention to have any

Member of my family in danger.  But, I will not let my friends become slaves.
I will not let my family be abused, used and exploited.  I must fight, for our
Freedom, so that those who wish to own us, will think twice before setting

Foot on our magnificent kingdom."  She paused and as she did some of
The calvary shouted "Tulshar!"  which is the Mercurian battle cry
In support of the Queen.  She continued,  "I know we are not like our

Spartan cousins, we do not savor war, we are intellectuals, we are
A kingdom rich with resources, human resources, our minds, our hands,
We create what those only wish they could, we lead, never follow."

She paused again, now more of the military shouted "Tulshar!"
"I want you to think of Odysseus, and of his ten years of trials away
Only to return home to a house full of Suitors.  Odysseus, the cunning,

Who used his wit to beat impossible odds.  We are no different from him.
We possess the most underestimated weapon of all, the mind."
"Tulshar!"  By now 75% of the kingdom was shouting it.

"We have an advantage, this is our home, our land.  We know every
Part of this kingdom and its surrounding area, which will prove as
A valuable advantage.  We are masters of disguises.  We are master

Craftsmen.  Right now as I speak, Pathorg and his men are crafting
Armory far superior to any civilization around.  So I ask you one question
Would you prefer to be enslaved for the rest of your life ruled by

Someone who doesn't know or care who you are?  Or will you fight,
For our future, for our children and for our kingdom,
Would you fight, for your family?"  The crowd now all stood up and shouted

"Tulshar! Tulshar! Tulshar!"  They were chanting when the Queen motioned
To speak.  When they silenced, she spoke again.  "Brothers and Sisters,
I will be right there with you on the front line, fighting to the death if necessary.

I do not ask you to do anything I wouldn't do myself.  So today, let us feast
Let us celebrate, provide sacrifices to the gods and goddesses.  For today,
We  are not a kingdom, we are one force, united, we are...Mercurians!"

"TULSHAR!"  The crowd was on fire, and the Queen's heart was once again
At peace.  As they shouted, she stepped down and headed to Mythist
To see what news she had of any white magic, anything for her people.

Mythist, The White Witch

Mythist was born an albino Mercurian,
The only color she had was in her iceblue eyes
And the tulip pink of her lips.

Her cloud white hair glowed in the dark library of magic
As LaanXoan approached her rather quickly
She was so startled she almost dropped the book

On LaanXoan's feet.  The book of spells was one
That LaanXoan had brought back as a token
Of friendship from the Alliance of Wizards.

Mythist laid it on the table as LaanXoan took a seat
Across from her.  Mythist's eyes were bloodshot
Having been up all night researching.

The book had different colored parchments,
Serving as bookmarks so Mythist could easily
Retrieve them.  She looked up at the Queen

And smiled with twinkling eyes.  "I think you
Will be pleased with what I have found but
I am not sure if it is exactly what you were hoping."

LaanXoan looked at her, "Well come come, don't just
Sit there like the old woman on the mountain smug
And taunting, do tell woman."  Mythist started with

The blue markers.  "These are the elements of water
Spells.  They consist of Healing, Curing, and lvl 3 spell blockers."
LaanXoan smiled because all those were spells her

People would need.  "Fantastic Mythist.  What else?"
She turned to the brown ones, "These are elements of
Earth Spells.  They consist of Fortification, Strength

And Quake spells."  LaanXoan nodded.  Then Mythist
Turned to the white ones.  "These are elements of Air
Spells.  They consist of Manipulation of Weather elements

And temporary flight.  And the orange ones, are elements
Of Sun and Fire.  None of our mages would be at the level
To cast these, they are level 13+.  There is one that may be useful,

A light cast Spell.  It is suppose to defend against any dark magical attack
No matter what attack it is.  Even though we cannot cast it
I page marked it for the future."  LaanXoan looked at Mythist

Disappointedly.  "No one can cast it?"  Mythist nodded her head.
Then a deep male voice spoke from behind them.  "I can."
LaanXoan turned around to find warm sea foam green eyes greet her.

Prince Theos, a devilishly handsome young man, with short curly
Locks of blond hair, always smirking like he was up to no good.
It was no wonder Apollo was enchanted with him, he could

Have easily passed for a God.  The Prince was the head of the
Alliance of Wizards, and one of the most powerful wizards
In all of Greece.  LaanXoan ran to hug him, when another figure

Caught her eye.  "No, why did you bring her here, Theos."
She said.  "What, she said you two were close and she was worried
About you.  I told her she shouldn't worry, you are as

Mad as the Maenads during Dionysus' festival,"  Theos said trying
Not to laugh.  "Be Silent Theos, before I smite you with my sword."
"Careful love, I have a party later, I need to conserve my energy

For my after dinner treats."  He charmingly smirked
At her as he went to introduce himself to Mythist.
"Lovely, I have not seen an albino in all my travels."

Theos said as he kissed Mythist's hand.  "Prince Theos,
At your service my lady."  Mythist bowed and for the first
Time had color in her cheeks as blood rushed to its surface.

"Mythist, general of the wizard wing, sire."  Mythist responded
Softly.  "A general, then I shall behave."  The Prince winked
At her and then spotted the open book.  "Ah the book of

Spells, no wizard should be without it.  Luckily for me, " He tapped
His forehead with his fingers.  "I got it memorized.  But lets discuss
Strategy shall we general Mythist?"  "Please, Mythist is fine Prince

Theos."  Mythist spoke but did not gaze into his eyes for fear she would
Melt.  "Then please, call me Theos."  The two took a seat at the table
And began jotting notes on parchment and discussing how their

Two groups would best work as one.  LaanXoan couldn't believe it.
The two people she wanted to protect, are here in the most dangerous
Spot of all.  She looked at Airrionna, who was heartbroken that

Her love was not more enthusiastic to see her here.  After all,
She was here for her.  "Please tell me you did not bring your
Troops here as well."  Airrionna looked up at LaanXoan angrily

"No but what if I did, does it give you any right to speak to me
In such an aloof manner."  With that she stormed out into the streets
And back into the Chariot.  LaanXoan chased after her.  "Wait,"

She stood by the chariot side and the princess turned her back on
Her, "I'm sorry.  It's just, I don't want to see you hurt and here you
Are, about to be in the middle of my war and I can't do anything

About it."  The princess still did not turn around.  "My love, please
I just, I want you to be safe because I love you so much.  To see you
Here truly makes me happy because I have missed you."

The princess turned around, "You sure have a strange way of showing
It Mercurian."  She said.  "Is there a place I can freshen up.  We have
Been traveling for 2 days."  "Yes of course, here, you can use my personal

Chambers."  She grabbed her hand and escorted the princess to
Her castle.  The chamber maids quickly rushed the princess to the
Bathing area and LaanXoan began her meet and greets with her people.

Sabotage

"My Liege, your attention is needed immediately"
The general said with a shaking voice.
The Black Prince looked up from his book

Of Spells and followed the general out of his
Tent.  "Why am I being disturbed General
Zolate?"  The Prince asked irritated.

"Sire, it appears we have been sabotaged.
Our chariots are all missing two wheels,
Half our rations are destroyed,  and

Several vials from your magical ingredients
Chariot have been destroyed. "  The general
Responded avoiding a direct look at the Prince.

"WHAT!"  The Prince yelled angered.  "Who is
Responsible?"  The general motioned for the
15 men on watch last night to step forward.

"Sire, we...we noticed nothing out of the ordinary
Last night."  The commanding watchman spoke
Scared to the core.  The Prince turned around with

His wand in hand.  "Rageous Torcha!"  And with a
Wave of his wand the watchmen were all turned to ashes
Instantaneously.  "I WILL NOT STAND FOR THIS

INCOMPETENCE!" His closest general, Posiegn, stepped
Forward to speak to the Black Prince.  "My liege we will
Need 48 hours to repair the equipment to be able to move

Forward."  The Black Prince ran his hand through his hair
Then swung around to the general with his wand pointing at him,
"You have EXACTLY 24 hours to resolve this.  No more.  Do NOT disturb

Me again until this situations has been rectified!"  He stormed
Back to his tent.  He sat down at his portable desk, then he stood
Up, tossing the table over, and kicking the chair hard

Which hit Webby's spider form knocking him from the wall
He managed to crawl out of there and into the nearby forest
Before he turned into his human form.  Howler discovered him

As they were making the last adjustments to the trap moments later.
"Webby?"  Howler said, in his wolf form.  He sniffed him to see if he
Was still alive.  He was, but barely.  He dragged him for a few feet

Then howled for the Talons to help.  They came and carried him
Back to their camp.  They all gathered round Webby, he was loosing color
Fast.  He was internally bleeding, several of his organs had been punctured

During his crushing accident.  He looked up at Howler, and grabbed his arm
Pulling him close.  He whispered, "Beware of the Dark Book of Tongues."
Those were his last words as he fell limp to the ground.  The Oounakii

Were in a state of shock.  They had gone through life thinking they were
Invincible.  None of them ever counted on ever having to face death.
Webby was the youngest and newest addition to the group.

His greatest attribute, was his humor.  He kept them laughing.
Now, he was gone.  A soldier loyal to the Queen even in his
Last living breath...he was the most persistent of them all.

There was a moment of silence, as they all remembered him.
The Talons, Taldor and Zephina all started to cry.  Dorian spoke up,
"Zephina, we will need you to carry his body back to our home."

Zephina shape shifted into her elephant form, and gently picked up
Webby's limp body, putting it on her back.  They all began to chant
A chant they sang together when they were on watch as they

Brought the body back to Mercuria.  They chanted all the way
To the kingdom.  The  eleven figures moved fast across the lands
Back to their home.  Dorian led the way, somberly.

A Hero Comes Home

LaanXoan began her rounds with Pathorg's Shoppe
She entered and she could hear pounding against anvils
As she stepped into the work area, Pathorg smiled up at

His guest.  "My Queen,"  He bowed as she approached him.
She grabbed his shoulder with a sigh, "You know, I don't
Need you to bow to me Pathorg."  He smiled and stood

About 4 inches shorter than her, his bald head shining from
Sweat.  "Your father used to tell me the same thing.  Consider
It my silent way of not obeying you."  He snickered to himself.

"Come, you must see this armor.  Here, this is especially tailored
For you, my Queen."  His eyes twinkled like the stars on a cloudless
Night as his chest puffed out with pride in his craftsmanship.

The armour  was dark and light, it appeared to have its own motion
Even when stationary.  The light was lost in the dark and reflected off
The light, as if magnified.  It was unlike anything she had ever seen.

She put it on not surprised at its perfect fit.  "Pathorg, this is truly
Amazing.  What material is this?"  Pathorg smiled half crooked.
"Lets just say your grandfather sent you an early birthday gift."

Lulu came up and placed a cape, made from the same material only
Wooven into a chain mail cape.  The Queen hugged them both
Believing she was truly blessed to be surrounded with such

Amazing, caring people.  "You both are too generous."  She kissed
Them on the cheeks.  Lulu spoke, "You were always like a daughter
To us, Laan.  You should know that Pathorg and I love you very much.

I hope that we all survive this.  But in case we do not, I want you to know
How much you mean to us.  Pathorg and I never could have children.
You and this kingdom are all the family we have."  The lil old lady started

To tear up a lil as she said.  "Na koo zee ba danuke twee."  LaanXoan responded
Softly as she hugged them, "And I also love you both very much."  Pathorg then
Showed the Queen the armory they have been working on.  The metal had an

Unusual glow.  LaanXoan gazed at it  for a while but didn't think the
Phoenix feather was the only extra element.  "Pathorg, why does it glow like
that?"  She asked him as his smile broadened.  "My Queen, that is our very

Own Mercurian Lumininite.  It is a rare metal which we keep locked for
Special occasions.  Well, I couldn't think of a better occasion than this."
LaanXoan looked at him with inquisitive eyes.  "Special

Properties?"  "Observe."  The old man said as he put the armor on the
Ground.  The armor texture morphed...and soon it blended in with the
Floor.  "That is amazing Pathorg!  Anything else?"  The old man smiled

At the Queen, "Well it depends on the beholder."  "What do you mean?"
The old man picked up the armor and put it on.  Suddenly, his body
Started to change, into his youthful self, strong and tall.

"It has the ability to amplify your life force back to its peak."
The Queen and Lulu looked at him like they had seen a ghost.
"Now, what I am not sure of is how long the effects last."

"That isn't just from the feather is it?"  The Queen asked.
"No, but because of the feather combined with the spring where
This metal is mined, I am guessing produce a fountain of youth

Type effect."  "Amazing."  The Queen said, as Lulu laughed a little.
Pathorg looked at her as she chuckled, "Well it be a fibbing
Fountain of youth effect, you have never been that tall."

Pathorg's brow furrowed. "Shush woman, Torbit faul twoo."
She laughed herself into the kitchen to fetch some tea.
LaanXoan laughed at the cute old couple as Pathorg took

The armor off.  "We shall be done in 4 hours my Queen."
"Excellent work my old friend.  I will let Garag know he
Can start sending the warriors here for final fittings."

She hugged him once more and yelled good bye to Lulu who
Was still giggling in the kitchen. "Also send the rangers
And Wizards, we have fashioned a thinner version of the

Metal into wizard robes and ranger gear."  "You are a genius
Pathorg."  Pathorg smilled his crooked smile.  "Thank you
My Queen, but I am not a genius...after all, we are no

Better than Odysseus."  "Indeed my old friend...indeed."
She headed out the smithing shoppe and started for the town
Center.  There was a roar of commotion, as she entered the

Center, her mouth dropped.  There were tables set up all over
The place, kids making arrows, mothers sewing robes, fathers
Building machinery.  She stopped at the closest table, "Seth,

What is going on here."  Seth bowed, "My Queen, we were so
Inspired by you, we are crafting our way to freedom."
He pointed to the first row of tables.  "That is the

Archery section.  The town fletchers gathered and brainstormed
And came up with this."  He pulled out what looked like several
Arrows and bolts strung together about 30 to 40 a batch.

Then he pulled out his crossbow and inserted the first bolt
into it, she noticed immediately the modifications to the
crossbow.  Then he began to rapid fire at a nearby target

The rangers were practicing on.  She gasped, "Amazing."
Seth smiled and showed her the arrows and bolts. "Those are
Smaller than before."  The Queen said.  "Yes, they will

Be almost invisible when shot at the speeds these can travel."
"So, if the enemy doesn't see the danger..."  Seth finished her
Sentence, "They cannot avoid it.  But come, we have more

Inventions.  Look,"  He pointed to the guard walks on the top
Gate.  There was a sheet of glass/mirror like circular objects
Strung together with pullies and ropes on each end. "What in

The name of Zeus is that?" She asked him.  "Well, the glass
Blowers thought, if we could somehow temporarily blind their
Rangers, it would allow us time to attack them with ours."

"Reflecting the sun's rays into their eyes."  "Yes.  Oh but the
Best thing is over here,"  He took her to the alchemists and
Engineer area.  "Guys, can we demo our top secret weapon for

The Queen?"  They smiled and got the little doll dressed
In black wizard robes just like the Black Prince.  "Seth,
Stand back a little more."  Seth extended his arms in front

Of the Queen as they backed up.  Then one of the guys threw
The doll onto a patch of grass, and then the ground exploded
And dirt and doll parts flew everywhere. "Hades fire, what

Is that?"  The Queen asked.  "That my Queen, is what they call
The SOL bomb.  The engineers have made a special casing
Sensitive to weight.  When the casing starts to collapse

Due to weight from above, the explosive bomb ignites thanks
To a special liquid and design from our Alchemists."  The
Queen was speechless, her people were coming together to

Come up with military inventions to help give them an edge over
The Black Prince's army.  She didn't tell them that they
Were outnumbered 3 to 1, but the Mercurians being the

Innovators they were, were coming together to beat the odds
Through their own skills and knowledge.  She was taken back by it all.
Then, the guards started to yell "Open the gates, Open the gates!"

The Queen ran to the gates and when her eyes met Dorian's, she knew
Something had gone horribly wrong.  Then she saw Zephina...
Then Webby.  There was a sudden silence in the Kingdom.  Zephina

lifted Webby off of her back and into the arms of the Queen.
The Queen carried him through the town center to the alter,
Tears streaming from her eyes.  The Oounakii followed in a

Single line behind her.  The Mercurians held each other and
Some of the kids started to cry, "I don't want to die mummy."
They were picked up and held by their moms as if that was

The last time they were to ever see each other.  Garag and
The Generals followed behind the Oounakii.  When the Queen
Got to the alter, she laid Webby's cold blue body on the

Priest's bench.  She kneeled beside him, tears flowing
Freely.  She could not take her eyes off of him.  He was
14 in human years, barely grown.  He was like a son to her

Even though she had only known him for a year, he held a
Special spot in her heart.  The Mercurians gathered around
The alter in a semi-circle. They all held their heads down

As the Queen turned to them and spoke, "I am sorry Oounakii,
For the loss of our brother Webby.  I am also sorry to all
Mercurians, that this is a harsh reality of what we are

About to face.  When I first found Webby,"  She had to stop
As her voice was breaking up, and she had to fight hard
To hold back her tears.  "When I first found Webby,

He had just been beaten down by some of his own kind because
He had yellow hair on his back.  They no more knew his name
And almost killed him over his appearance, because he was

Not like them.  Even when he was bleeding badly as I helped
Him up from the ground, he smiled with blood dripping from
His lips and said," She had to stop and compose herself again

Sniffling and then clearing her throat, "He said Don't worry
About me, they can hurt me all they want but they will never
Break me.  I never forgot that day.  For such a young man to

Have such courage, such will to survive, is why Mercuria is
His home.  Let us not forget him as we face our enemy.  He
Died a warriors death, and shall have a hero's welcome.

Tonight we will gather in his honor and remember his spirit."
Garag came up to her, "But my Queen the war."  "Garag, I do
Not care, we will honor our fallen.  We have time.  Also,

Make arrangements to bury him after the gathering in the north
lot."  "But, that is the royal lot."  "I know...he is my family."
She looked up at Garag with eyes glowing with sadness.  He

Nodded and obeyed.  She motioned for the Oounakii and her
Generals to follow her to the Magical Library, where she would
meet with Theos, Mythist, Garag, the Oounakii and her Generals.

Okay so I am a little too stressed to write the next blog chapter but...enjoy this intermission, its one of my favorite pieces in my collection of poems:

Therapeutic

I sit on the floor, surrounded by colors
Each one vivid, independent, safe
In its little silo
A blank canvas lies ahead of me
Staring at me, daring me
To wreck it's perfect off white world
The floors blanketed, protected or so they think
I pick up the first can, heavy, full
I throw its contents across the room
Red dripping from my fingers
The blankets splattered with its blood
The canvas no longer pure
I feel superficially justified
The fresh paint breathing faster
As its life dries before it
This is too much like the last month of my life
Four years, to be lost in just one month
Angered, frustrated, I pick up the next can
This time I run and fling
Tossing the contents with such a force
It almost swallows the red
The two colors bleeding, meshing
The blue dominating the red
The calmness overcoming the anger
My life shot and tossed like the paint on the floor
Remnants everywhere, of our relationship
I breathe slowly, watching the air bubbles popping
Struggling against the suffocating paint
I pick up another can and take a few steps back
Thinking of you, our last kiss, what your last words to me were
This time I throw and the can leaps from my finger tips
The color flips out, hitting me, the ceiling, the walls
Spinning out of control until it smacks the canvas
And falls lifeless to the ground
The envious green oozing out of the can
Almost taking its own path against the canvas
Away from the blue and red as if in denial
Refusing to surrender, to give up
Much like my hopeful romantic soul
You choked with your silence
Tears burning against my cheek
My mind exploding with memories
I lose myself for what seems like hours
Only to find myself in the same spot I was in
When we first met, this endless circle that never ends
The canvas laughing at me, taunting me
I pick up another can
I twirl and twirl and release
The can flies forward, spinning sideways
Until it knocks the canvas over
The bright yellow slowly taking its time
Seeping into the canvas, the lip of the can patterned
Making its mark, I slowly pick up the can
Put the canvas back on the easel
I put my hand on the yellow, smearing it
Dragging my hands over it, blending the colors
The cold paint wakes my soul
My eyes no longer wanting to cry
No longer longing to be in your presence
I grab a towel and wipe off my hands
Wipe off the paint and tears
I pick up the brush
And dip it into the last color
No longer needing to throw it
No longer needing to release it
I paint a purple circle
And turn it into the sun
Because even though I know why the paint is the way it is
And what this canvas really stands for
No one else will ever know
Because that is how you want it
And no matter how much this hurts
A gentlewoman always keeps her word.

The Dark Book Of Tongues

Theos and Mythist looked up as LaanXoan entered
Followed by the Oounakii and her Generals.
Mythist noticed the watery eyes of LaanXoan

But before she could ask, LaanXoan spoke softly after a deep sigh,
“Webby’s loss is a slap of reality for me.  I can’t put any more of
You in danger.  I am going to surrender myself to the Prince

In exchange for your freedom.”  Theos laughed as LaanXoan shot him
A look that could have killed him if she had such a power.
“Don’t be foolish.  You know as well as I that the dark

Ones have no honor, no cause to keep their promise.  Better you stay
By our sides and fight.  He will wager war either way and you are
But a naïve victim to think otherwise.  I say nay, you fight, we fight.”

Theos stood up to walk towards her but Garag stopped him,
“We shall support the Queen, no matter what her decision.”
Theos looked at Garag, sizing him up for a challenge.

“Stop it, sit down both of you.”  LaanXoan said, impatient and frustrated.
Dorian stepped forward and spoke, “My Queen, before Webby died
His last words heeded a warning.  Howler.”  Dorian motioned him

To step forward.  Howler nervously rubbed his hands trying to remember
Webby’s words.  “He said…what was it…a book…beware of the dark book…
Of…”  He paused scratching his head when his sister smacked him from

Behind as if to knock the answer into him.  “Ouch!”  “Focus, you nit.”  Taldor
Said, looking at him sternly with her gray eyes.  Howler shook and then blurted out,
“Tongues, he said beware of the Dark Book of Tongues.”  Theos gasped, as the color

Drained from his skin.  “Impossible.”  He whispered as he sat down feeling sick to
His stomach.  “What is it Theos?”  LaanXoan asked him, completely terrified for her
People.  “The Dark Book of Tongues was first introduced by the followers of the

Egyptian God Set, a vile god who had killed his brother, chopping him up into little
Pieces so that he could not be resurrected…he is a demon, a jealous raged demon.
This Dark Book of Tongues,” he sighed before he spoke again.  “ There are spells to

Resurrect ancient evils, spirits of chaos and unspeakable acts of vengeance… if it is
True and the Black Prince possesses such a book, then I fear for all of Greece.”
LaanXoan closed her eyes, trying not to let fear distort her consciousness.

“Every being, every force, every entity has an exception, it is this fault you must
Open all your senses to...awaken them and let them guide you to it.”  Her mother’s
Voice resounded in her heart and soul, and clarity restored in her mind.

“Every force has an equal opposite.  I believe we are not hopeless yet.  Garag,”
The stoic Mercurian stepped forward awaiting orders. “Begin sending the
Warriors, Rangers and Wizards to be fitted by Pathorg.  Mythist and Theos,

I need you to go to our herbalists and see what mystical plants and resources
We have available for our men and women.  Altreon, gather the fletchers and
Speak to Seth about the modified weapons.  I need a report on how many

We will have available to us.  Dorian, I need you and the Oounakii to speak to
Pathorg about custom fitting amour for you and the Oounakii shape shifters.
I believe LuLu may be able to fashion a stretchable material, which will adjust

To you.  Serif, Zanu, Treac, and Xeg, I need you to visit our alchemists and
Ballistic engineers, see what we can best leverage for protection of the kingdom.
Maer, Zool, and Phaire, I need you to prepare the training grounds.  I will

Be there shortly to discuss tactics.  Garag, join me there.  We will meet again
After the Gathering.  They dispersed and the Queen was left alone in the library.
She sat down putting her hands to her head trying to focus on what was needed of her

What was expected.  As she pressed against her brow and breathed deeply in
A book on the lower shelf caught her eye.  It was a small thick book that almost
Glowed in the dark.  She read the title as she pulled it out and it was a historical

Book of Mecuria and its Natural wonders.   Then popped out of her hands, fell onto
the Table, as the pages flipped wildly.    Then the book stopped…LaanXoan sat in front of
It carefully…fearful of its trickery.   Her eyes opened wider as she read the title of

The chapter, The great tunnels of Mercuria.  “Tunnels?”  She whispered and read
Intently.  Apparently, the tunnels were constructed by her ancestors during the great
War with Blatorgs, to aid in their surprise attacks.  There were tunnels leading from the center

Of the kingdom to various exit/entry points all around the perimeter.  She smiled as
She envisioned several surprise attacks against the Black Princes forces.  With the
Amour that Pathorg made, they could essentially blend into the trees, using the weapons

And spells they had, without ever truly engaging in hand-to-hand combat.  They would be
able to cripple his troops before they even reached the kingdom.  She closed the book
And carried it with her to the training grounds…her eyes sparkling with confidence…

Posiegn, The Treacherous

His black, souless eyes like pools of oil
His head was slick, unable to grow hair
He looked older than his age of 22.

The men came running to him breathless
"General Posiegn," the young man said between gasps,
"You must come to the chariots at once."

His mouth tightened as he grit his teeth.
The Prince was right, they were complete idiots
These men, its a wonder how they managed

To walk if it weren't for some form of brain cell
Existence.  "What is it now?"  His voice condescending
And belittling, the men didn't dare look at him.

"You," more gasping, "You have to see for yourself."  He followed
to find himself standing before several holes in the ground.
"What in Hades happened here?" He turned to the men.

Then he heard moans.  He peered into one of the holes
To find five bloody men, three dead due to their necks
snapping.  The other two barely alive, bones broken.

"Useless." He said.  "Set fire to them all, put them out of
Their misery."  He turned to walk away and one of the
Men yelled at him.  "But, we can't just kill them."

Posiegn turned around and swiftly before the man could
No more blink, Posiegn's hand was on his throat, his eyes
Cutting through him without mercy.  "You think you are

On holiday here son?"  Posiegn said, slightly spitting on the man
As the man turned his face away, trying to breath.  "No sir."
"This is war, with war is death.  Smell it, taste it, feel it...it is

Everywhere.  These miserable twigs are useless to our cause."
The man nodded. "Burn them or I will toss you in that hole
So you can show your brotherly love."  With that, Posiegn

Pushed him back in line with the others.  "Anyone else care
To cry on my shoulder?"  There was silence and avoidance
From the men as they hurried to gather wood for fire.

"Pathetic imbeciles."  He said as he smacked his teeth and spat.
Soon burning flesh could be smelt from miles.  The Black Prince
Came out from his tent and approached Posiegn.  "What is that

Wretched odor."  Posiegn responded, "The men found some rotting pigs
Under the chariots, I told them to burn them before they diseased us
All."  The Prince looked at Posiegn sharply.  "Well, next time tell them

To move the fires farther from the campsite.  It is making me nauseous."
Posiegn nodded but in his mind he was picturing blood splattering
As he killed the spineless Prince.  He had to be patient, for timing

Was everything.  Once the Prince had defeated the Mercurians,
He would kill him...and claim the throne for his own along with
Lathodarse.  The Prince was too caught up in females to be worth

Anything.  Dark warriors need nothing of love.  His infatuation
With the Queen made him weak....rubbery.  He was nothing
Compared to Posiegn.  Soon, Posiegn would rule all the lands.

His first order of business was to somehow steal some of the spells
From that book the Prince kept locked away.  With the ultimate
Power of darkness...he would be invincible...indestructible.

Scurry Scurry

LaanXoan carried the book to Papy, the kingdom's
Scribe.  "Papy,"  The middle age man looked up from
His book pushing his glasses up as the Queen approached.

"My Queen, what do I owe the honor of your visit.  Is
It time for me to pay tribute to the kingdom with my
Services?"  He said scholarly.  "Papy, I need you to make

Twelve copies of this."  She laid the book on his desk, to the
Two page map of tunnels.  "Fascinating, I had completely
Forgotten about the tunnel systems."  He said as he got up

To fetch more parchment.   "When shall they be ready?"
Papy came back with a stack of parchments.  "Well if I get
My students."  The Queen cut him off, "No one else is to

Look at this except for you Papy."  Her tone was very
Authoritarian like, which was something he never
Experienced.  As he looked into her glowing green eyes,

He nodded and complied.  "As you wish my Queen.  It
Will take me half a day, if I stay up all night you should
Have them in the morning first thing."  She sighed.

"Can you make me a copy now?"  He looked at the sun
From the window.  "Come back when the sun has crossed
The tip of the Dhomule Mountain."  She nodded and left,

Headed to get something to eat.  Meanwhile, over at Pathorg's...
"Well we were told to come to you for amour fitting."  Dorian said.
The old man shook his head.  "I am telling you I have no time to

Try to figure out how to outfit animals."  Pathorg said.  A young boy
Stepped up, he was about the age of Webby.  "Sir, if I may, I would like
To try to make them.  My chores around the shop are complete."

Pathorg looked at the young man through his spectacles, smiling
"Young squire, what do you know of smithing?"  The young man picked
Up a hammer, and quickly made a thin cloth-like material out

Of some scrap metal from the floor.  "I have been watching you
Sir, and I have come up with a new form of armor."  Old Pathorg
Was quite impressed with his technique.  "LuLu!"  He shouted.

The short chubby old woman appeared from the kitchen.  "Great
Zeus, what is with the shouting.  I am old, but not deaf!"  "Sorry my
Darling wife."  Pathorg said smiling at her.  "Oh no, I know that tone.

You want something..."  She said waiting for his request.  "Chimmy here
Has fashioned an new form of amour technique, its almost like cloth.
Being the master seamstress that you are, can you fashion up something

For our noble Oounakii?"  The woman smiled at the word of work and
Being able to contribute.  "But of course.  Bagarii, let me measure you."
The Oounakii followed the old lady to the kitchen, with Chimmy bringing

Up the rear.    In the center of town, Altreon was following Seth around,
Getting counts for his rangers.  "I think, if we continue at the pace we are
At, we should have about 200 units ready with 50-60 rounds of ammo

Each by the morning."  Seth said.  "That is with the 3 hour Gathering Intermission."
Altreon spotted two geese in the far distance.  He took the loaded crossbow from
Seth, who was startled, and aimed for them.  Two quick releases and

The figures dropped from the sky swiftly.  "Most impressive indeed."  The
Master ranger said.  "How many are ready now, I want my men to get use
To the modifications."  Altreon said, his dark brown eyes almost khaki

In the sun, as he ran his fingers through his short and wavy brown hair.
Altreon was stronger than he looked, a tall, thin man with eyes like a
Hawk.  He was the sharp shooter of the lot, and thus, why the Queen

Named him general of the ranging units.  "Lets load up a chariot, we
Should have at least fifty units ready with 20 rounds of ammo each."
Seth said.  "Excellent, we can rotate training so they can be ready."

With that, Seth and Altreon went to fetch a chariot to load up.
In the far eastern garden of the kingdom, Theos and Mythist were
Speaking with Tulip, the Queen's personal gardener and herbalist.

"Is there anything that you think would be useful in this war that we
Can make into potions?"  Mythist asked the elderly lady.  "Well, I seem to
Recall back when Mercurio had a run in with the banshees up in the northern

Himalayas, he wanted me to grow him some birkletrag, and always keep enough
For the entire kingdom if needed."  The old lady said slowly, with a slight crackling
In her voice.  "Birkletrag?"  Theos asked.  "Oh yes, birkletrag.  When grounded

And combined with the spring water from the navel of the mountains, and a dash
Of Aloe and Whispertoels, it forms a light milky blue substance that yields  a curse
Recover effect, essentially curing the one who drinks it of any traces of the curse."

Tulip said while tending to a volamor tree and collecting its flowers.  Theos and
Mythist looked at each other simultaneously then blurted out at the same time,
"How many can we make?"   Serif, Zanu, Treac, and Xeg, were standing before

The alchemists on the opposite side of the garden.  The blonde twins were about
19 in human years, proclaimed geniuses by the scholars of the Kingdom.  In their
quest to turn metals into gold, they had discovered many useful substances accidentally.

One of which they were demonstrating to the Queen's Generals.   They handed the generals
Goggle like eye protectors.  The Generals didn't hesitate to put them on.  As they did, the twins
Scurried around their lab and produced a flat lightweight cube.  The Generals didn't look impressed

But of course, they were about to experience the same demonstration the Queen got earlier.
They alternated talking, "Now Gentlemen, what you are about to see is not for the faint of heart."
"No, you will think that we have the power of Zeus' staff of lightening."  "And you will find this to be truly..."

"Remarkable," The twins said in unison.  They did some adjusting with a thin metal stick, dug
Up a patch of ground, put the metal cube in it, covering it back up with dirt.  Then,
Motioned for the Generals to stand back.  They rolled a ball over the patch of dirt and

As soon as the ball rolled over it, there was a blast from the ground.  The ball was black from
The explosion.  The Generals were shocked, then realized what they had.  "We can plant those
Things all around the front of the kingdom."  Xeg said as the Generals all nodded and agreed.

"How many of those things do you have?"  Zanu asked.  The boys opened up door and the room was
Stacked from floor to ceiling with small metal cubes.  Garag, caught up to LaanXoan as she was headed
To the Training grounds.  "Done?"  She asked.  "Done." He said.  Maer, Zool, and Phaire were busy

Scurrying putting up the dummies, getting the padded weapons in place and preparing the watering station.
The Queen told them to stop and they discussed the tunnel map she had in her hand.  "Why, the entrance is
Under the fountain."  Maer said.  "Zool and Phaire, stay here and continue the necessary preparations.

Garag, Maer, come with me."  They went to the fountain and searched for the entrance.  "This is impossible."
Maer said, tired of looking at the ground.  Garag looked at the fountain.  "If you were a Mercurian engineer..."
The Queen looked at the fountain statue with it arm pointing north.  "Darn our over zealous ancestors."  She

Said as she climbed into the fountain and pulled the arm.  A hidden stone trap door unlocked and slid sidways
To reveal stairs.  Then as if by magic, the tunnel stones on the walls lit up.  "Shall we?"  They entered into the
center of the tunnels.  The entrance was a circular room, with doorways in each direction about 2 feet from

Each other.  There were bells attached to strings that appeared to run along each of the door way walls.
"Of course, the bell warning system."  Garag and the Queen looked at Maer.  "During the raids on the Blathorgs,
The tunnel runners used the bells to send messages to the tunnel hub general.  The general would decipher

The code of bell rings and then know the exact movements of the approaching Blatorgs, so they could
Plan the best tactic for attacks."  Maer said.  "Do we have anyone who knows this code?"  The Queen asked.
Maer smiled.  "You are looking at them."  Garag smiled too, because when they were younger Maer and

Garag used the code when they re-enacted the war.  "I had almost forgotten all about it, ten years is a long time."
It was almost time for the Gathering.  "Okay, after the Gathering we will meet with the others to discuss this."
The Queen exited out of the tunnel hub, with Garag and Maer following shortly behind her...

Immersed in Thought

LaanXoan approached her chambers, where she
Called upon the chambermaids to prepare a bath
For her, one she could enjoy before the start of the

Gathering.   She looked to see if she could spot her
Beloved princess...but she was no where in sight.
"Metilda, is the Princess relaxing?"  "Yes my Queen.

She was exhausted from her travels and is sleeping
In the eastern twilight room."  "I see.  Please fetch
Lilacs and irises from the garden.  Leave her a note

That they are from me."  "Yes my Queen."  With that Matilda
Headed to see Tulip.  The Queen stepped into the warm
Bath, the hot rocks like the sun kisses against her skin.

She laid back and filled her senses with the lavender
And jasmine scents.  The Chambermaids approached
Her ready to give her a massage but she declined.

She wished to be alone with her thoughts, and focus
On the trials ahead.  They left her in the candlelit room,
Steam covering her as she breathed slowly in and out.

She smiled thinking of the look on the Black Prince's face
When he had seen the work of her Oounakii.  Then she started
To cry as visions of Webby dancing happily around her, squeeling.

He was so excited about his victory, an ever so short-lived victory.
She had been working with him on his memory and listening.  He
Had started to recall parchment with heightened detail.   Even his

Sense of hearing had progressed with such speed, she was hoping he
Would be able to do solo infiltration assignments, bringing back
Critical battle plans and information...but he would never see that.

So much potential to be lost in an instance, the thought of it made her
Appreciate life more.  Tonight she would have to make up for her
Behavior to Airrionna, because tonight may be their last night alive...

Just watched all of the Lord of the rings trilogy last night, and this story hits me as so epic, reminds me of the relationships and battles fought in LOTR.  Great stuff really, keep going.  Not to sound too crude, but it is like the best foreplay ever, just waiting for the climax , is close to better than the climax itself, you want it to last forever.

The Gathering

The dawn was swift and the day went
By in a batter of the eye, soon the
Walkways lit with fireflies and candles

The Queen struggling to decide which
Garments to fashion for the festivities
Something not too somber, not too bright

But nothing seemed to draw her attention
Leatan, her dressmaker approached with
A beautiful gown fit for a royal ball

"Where did you happen to find those?"
LaanXoan asked, somewhat shocked.
"Actually my Queen, I made this dress

Hoping that one day I would find such
An occasion to wear it myself, but I don't
Think that day will ever come.  So I want

You to wear this dress tonight."  Leatan said
With a deep sigh.  "No, I want you to wear that
Tonight Leatan."  LaanXoan said with a sincere

And warm smile.  "But my Queen..." LaanXoan
Interrupted her swiftly.  "That is not a request,
That is an order."  Leatan's mouth curled upward

With excitement as she left the room in a hurry.
Still left with the dilemma of fashion, LaanXoan
Sat at the edge of the bed, falling back to stare at

Its white cloud like canopy, the sheer material
Floated in her mind as she felt thoughts drain
From her...slowly.  Then Leatan cleared her

Throat as she entered the room to let LaanXoan
Know she was there.  LaanXoan sat up and saw
The most elegant of robes she had seen once before

For they were her father's.  "I decided for your special
Night tonight my Queen, you should wear your father's
Robes.  I will have to take them in of course, but I am sure

You will find this perfect for the occasion."  LaanXoan
Couldn't agree with her more as she quickly undressed
To allow Leatan to do her magic with the thread and needle.

Meanwhile, a sleepy eyed princess awoke to a bouquet of flowers.
There was a note attached, as she picked it up and smiled.
Maybe the Mercurian wasn't such a brute after all, she thought

To herself as she e\inhaled the iris' sweet scent.  The chambermaids
Had brought her in some fresh water from the springs and a clean
Dress for her to wear tonight.  She began to freshen up for the festivities.

As they gathered into the town center, under a blanket of orange,
Purple, and Pink skies, the music was lively and everyone was in
Good spirits.  The Mercurian Nectar ran freely, an assortment

Of fresh fruits, vegetables, chicken, pork and beef spread out along
A long chain of tables...everyone sitting, standing together hugging,
Talking, Laughing, truly no one could have been able to tell this

Was a Gathering of a passed family member, nor could they see
The stress of the upcoming war.  No, all you could see for miles
Was a community embracing each other one last time, celebrating

The moment before it was gone.  LaanXoan had gone by the Princess'
Quarters but she was no where in sight.  She came to the town center
In hopes of finding her amongst the masses.  But she was parched, and

Found herself in front of a lovely Mercurian watering hole, partaking
In the most delicious nectar in all the world.  As her lips sipped and the
Mild burn of the Nectar slid slowly down her throat, she felt dainty

Hands press against her eyelids.  Smiling, she grabbed the hands to
Kiss them softly and then turned around to find a beautifully glowing
Princess Airrionna.   She gently kissed her lips, which were like rose

Petals so soft.  "I see you have found me."  LaanXoan said smiling.
"Although in my defense, I did come by to get you but you already
Left."  The Princess smiled coyly back at her, "Yes, I was quite famished

So I came as soon as I could to fetch some food.  I must say, your cooks
Are beyond fit for royalty.  I have never tasted such delicious and moist
Meats, and the vegetables are incredible."  She said with amazement.

"I believe it must be the fresh springs and the magic of the mountains that
Keeps our animals and plants thriving.  You look ravishing by the way,
Truly."  LaanXoan said forcing herself to look away before loosing herself

In Airrionna's eyes.  "You look quite handsome in these robes as well."
Airrionna said shyly.  "Shall we dance?"  The Queen extended her hand.
Before she could no more bat an eye, the Princess grabbed the Queen's

Hand and lead her to the dance area, practically at a sprinting walk.
By the vegetables, Mythist was pondering what to put on her already
Full plate.  "You know, you can always come back for more."  A deep voice

Said from behind her.  "Oh I know, but that would be inefficient.  Why make
Two trips when you can do it all in one."  She smiled as Theos stepped aside to
Let her pass, following her like a puppy dog with his own pile of meats and

Potatoes.   "Aren't you forgetting the best part?"  He said.  "No, I don't believe
In eating warm blooded creatures.  It is not something I care to do."  Mythist
Responded.  "Oh..."  Theos said as he looked at his plate full of wonderfully cooked

Warm blooded creatures. "Don't worry, I don't think any less of you if you prefer it."
She said smiling.  "Okay, because I usually don't eat like this, I eat um...more fruits
And what not."  Theos said trying to talk himself into a better light.  "Right.  And

Zeus is afraid of fire flies."  She responded.  "You don't give anyone a break do you."
He asked as they sat down at a table.  "I do, if someone is deserving of one."
Altreon spotted Leatan from across the room and something moved inside of him.

He approached her and kissed her hand.  "Madam, would you care to dance or are
You waiting for your escort?"  Leatan nervously responded.  "No, I mean Yes, I mean
Yes I would like to dance and no I am not waiting on anyone."  She turned red trying

To say the words.  He smiled and opened his arm so she could accompany him to the
Dance floor.  Garag watched the Princess and Queen dancing, after just finishing his
Meal.  He fell in love with the Queen the moment his eyes met hers, when he was just

Five.  He worked hard to become a general, partially just to be close to her.  Over the
Years their friendship had grown and he found himself more and more in love with
Her everyday.  His heart was sad, watching his love dancing with her love.  He knew

That his chance had passed.  Lulu laid a hand on his shoulder and sat next to him.
"It's hard isn't it?"  Lulu said to Garag as he looked down.  "What's hard madam."
He said trying to avoid eye contact.  "To watch someone slipping away from you."

He looked at her surprised.  "I don't know what you.."  Lulu interrupted him.  "Batwaa
Twii."  She said.  "You know exactly what I am talking about." As she nodded her head
In the direction of LaanXoan and Airrionna.  Garag sighed, "Is it that obvious?"  Lulu

Smiled empathetically at him.  "Eros might as well hold a sign over your head and
You be covered in arrows."  She said softly.  Garag sighed again.  "I don't know what
To do.  I don't think she even sees me anymore other than as her best general and

Confidant."  Garag said, looking back at LaanXoan and Airrionna who were laughing
At each other.  "I am sure when the moment is right you will know to do."  The old
Woman got up and gently squeezed his shoulders.  Garag sighed yet again.

The night went on and Apollo's chariot pulled the sun into the eastern sea and the moon
Shone like a beacon in the sky.  The people of Mercuria, young and old, gathered in the
Center as the Queen stepped up to the podium where She had laid Webby just this morning....

Battle Eve

"My brothers...Sisters...Family, Today's celebration was one of love,
Of togetherness, of remembrance for those both living and dead,
We embrace the moment, as tomorrow may never come."  She

Paused clearing her throat and taking a sip of nectar.  "We do not end
Tonight's celebration, no...we are merely postponing it for a few more
Days.  But tonight, I would like to close the evening with a prayer."

Everyone closed their eyes and bowed their heads.  "Great Mother Athena,
We hope you are there by our sides throughout this challenging time
In our kingdom, we wish our brothers and sisters victory in war,

Courage even through fear, and strength in weakness.  The time is
Near for us to charge arms with the legions of darkness making their
Way to us.  We pray they never step foot on our glorious kingdom's

Soil, and a quick death come upon those that do.  We pray for our
Fallen, may the river styx bare safe passage for them.  But above all
We pray for forgiveness for the bath of blood we will cause.  Shodar Tollum."

"Shodar Tollum," whispered the kingdom.  The musicians played
The last set, as the Queen found her Princess and danced again,
Mind heavy with thoughts of strategy and war...the Princess

Was able to sneak a kiss in as LaanXoan's dazed eyes glazed over.
"What was that for," the Queen asked.  "Just cause,"  the Princess
Smiled flirtatiously at her.  The Queen couldn't help but smile back.

Once the music stopped, everyone pitched in to clean up.  Even the
Queen helped out as the people continued with their preparations for
War.  The Queen sent a messenger boy to gather the generals in her

Private Quarters as she bid the Princess a good night, not noticing
That the Princess followed her and hid just outside the door way,
Unnoticed by those entering the room.  The generals took a seat

Along with Theos, his three high commanders, and the Oounakii.
The Queen sighed and then looked up at everyone.  "So, here is what
We have." She passed around the tunnel map the scribe had given

To her earlier. "We apparently have tunnels leading from the center
Of the kingdom to several exit/entry points around the perimeter.
This system was used in the ancient war of chaos against the ogres.

There are at least 12 passages if not more, all wired with bells so we
Can leverage the ancient bell warning system which Maer and
Garag know intimately.  We are dealing with an army of
Wizards, Rangers, and Warriors, most on horseback or chariots.

We also have several large ballistic attack weapons that can be
Used to crush and crack our fortress walls.  In addition, we have
An ancient Egyptian book of magic that will prove a heavy

Challenge."  She said as she looked into all their eyes one by one.
She did not see fear, but hope, and the fire of fight.  This gave her
Encouragement so she continued.  "I would like the Oounakii to

Be our tunnel runners and Maer the tunnel hub general, all opposed
Say EI."  None spoke.  "Maer, Garag, I want you two to spend the night
Briefing them on the code."  "Theos and Mythist, I need our mages to be

As close to lvl 13 we can get them for the level of counter spells against
Theirs."  Theos and Mythist nodded and Theos said, "We also have found
An anti-curse potion that may prove useful, the herbalists are making

It now.  As soon as we can gather water for them, they can make as many
As needed for the whole kingdom."  "Excellent, Mythist, gather the messengers
To help with the task of gathering water and take chariots to help.  My

Chariots are available to you for this."  She continued.  "I will need 15 mages,
15 rangers, and 30 warriors to come with me on a mission to cripple the
Princes Army."  Both Theos and Mythist volunteered.  "Theos, I need you to stay

Behind and man the troops behind the fort."  Angered he stood up, "No, I am either
On the front line with you or my men go home."  The Queen frustrated with his
Reactions motioned him to calm down.  "Fine, but not all your men come with me.

You will leave half here with Mythist to man the kingdom defenses."  "Deal."  He said,
As he wanted to protect Mythist from being on the front line as best as he could.  He
Had found himself more and more captivated by her.  Altreon spoke up, "Queen,

We will send our best men with you because we cannot lose you in the first round of battle.
It will not sit well for our people's morale if that were to happen."  Garag stood up, "I second
That.  Our best men should be on this excursion to assure your safety my Queen."

"Done." The Queen responded.  "I need a report on weapons, armory, and whatever else
We have in the works."  Each one by one detailed their discoveries and activities today.
The night fell swift and the meeting ended just before the moon set into the mountains.

The first attack would be made by the Queen right before Apollo rose the sun.  With the tunnels
On their side, they hoped to cripple the Black Prince's army at least twice before they reached
The kingdom walls.  The Princess hurried to beat the Queen back to her room, pretending

To be asleep when she arrived.  The Queen blew out the candles and laid down, then jumped
Up, grabbing her weapons near the bed as the Princess screamed.  "What in Hades name are
You doing?"  The Queen asked, seconds from killing the princess. "What in Hades name are

You doing?  Honestly, you think your enemy would just be sleeping in your bed?  Why in
Olympus are you so paranoid!?"  The Princess screamed back as the pitter patter of feet
Ran to the door, the housemaids with their coat racks and anything else they could find to

Impale on someone.  "Ladies, its alright, the Princes and I are just...um...role playing."
The housemaids giggled and left closing the door behind them.  "Well people don't just
Invite themselves to other people's bed without a warning."  The Queen whispered sternly.

"Well people should be allowed to surprise people without being cut to pieces."  The Princess
Whispered snapping back at the Queen.  "Fine."  The Queen said putting her weapons down.
"Fine."  The Princess said crawling back into the bed huffing and puffing before turning her

Back to the Queen.  They both laid there back to back for a few hours.  There was blanket
Tugging, feet kicking, and an assortment of little angered tiffs under the sheets until finally
They both gave into passion's calling.  Neither slept that night and time slipped away from them...

The March

The morning came all too soon, the Queen fatigued having not slept at all,
But her skin bright with the glow of love.  The Princess helped her prepare
For battle, helping put on her armor as the chamber maids brought in

Fresh Mercurian tea and coffee, with biscuits and fruit for breakfast.
The Queen looked at Airrionna and said with authority, "I will have two
Of my men escort you back to Arbolon, where you will be safe."

The Princess looked up angrily, "No, I will stay here with you and your
Kingdom, until death falls upon me."  The Queen looked at her again
This time her eyes dark and persistent.  "You do not have a choice

In this matter."  She called for her guards who came quickly.  "Take her
And tell Garag to have two of his men accompany her back to Arbolon."
They grabbed the Princess' arms and she fought screaming.

"I hate you!  I never want to see you again...I thought you loved me
But all you care about is yourself and your stupid wars."  She stomped
On one of the guards foot who released her and then sucker punched

The other in the one spot that renders a man completely helpless instantly.
She gathered her things and the guards went to grab her when the Queen
Motioned for them to let her collect her things.  The Princess stormed off

With the guards limping behind her.  The Queen's heart was saddened but
She would rather her be alive and mad, then dead and gone.  She finished
Her preparations drinking as much tea and coffee possible to give her energy

But the fatigue was heavy upon her body.  She regretted not getting any sleep
And knew that would possibly be a weakness during her battles today.  She
Met up with Garag who seemed to be glowing.  "You look like you are ready

To conquer the world."  The Queen said as he smiled at her, "Perhaps, today
Is a day of immense hope for me."  Garag responded.  His heart light because
He had a run in with the Princess who was completely disgusted with the Queen.

After the morning's attack, he would approach her with his declarations of love.
They walked to the fountains, where the entrance to the tunnels was.
Maer had already opened the fountain and stood waiting further orders.

"Oounakiii, step forward please." She said as the misfits came forth, still in human form
Except for Dorian.  They wore their fitted armor with pride and
eyes burning with courage...
Or perhaps vengeance for their lost brother Webby.  They waited for the Queen.

"Have you all mastered the bell system."  The Queen asked as they nodded.
"Good.  Maer, take them down to the tunnels and divi out the routes." She said as
Maer nodded but before he headed down to the tunnels, the Queen stopped him.

"Wait, reserve the most southern tunnel for us, we will start our march shortly."
He nodded with the Oounakii following closely behind him, transforming into
Their animal forms while letting out the battle cry "Tulshar!" as Dorian fiercely roared.

The small army the Queen requested stepped up, armed and ready to follow her.
She turned to Theos as he winked at her.  She smiled back and cleared her mind.
Closing her eyes she kneeled as the army did the same.  It was a Mercurian tradition

To kneel before an attack, allowing the warrior to find their life force,
Synch it with the surroundings, and clear their mind so they could focus
On battle, on war, on harnessing their inner strength and courage.

They rose awaiting the Queen's orders.  "This is what we will do, we will pair up
Utilizing the trees, brush, and rocks as shields against the enemy's fire.  We will wait,
For the center of the army, for that is most likely where the Prince will be.

Attack mages first, then rangers if possible.  Avoid hand to hand combat as we will
Barrage then retreat back into the tunnels.  This mission is just to cripple their
Army, not battle against them.  Take care of your partner.  Warriors should be

Paired with either mages or rangers.  We will try this approach and revamp if needed
For the next attack."  She looked into their eyes as they glowed back at her ready.
Theos would pair with Garag as Altreon grabbed her hand and placed an object in it.

"What is this?"  She said as she looked at him bewildered.  "This is the arrowhead my
Grandfather passed to me after we had claimed victory against the Ogres."  He took
The arrowhead from her and put it around her head as it was meant to be warn around

The neck.  "The string is from my grandmother, who made it from the great mountain
Wolf hide.  The teeth are from the great white shark, symbolizing the warriors sharpness."
"I can't wear this Altreon, it should be on you."   She tried to take it off but he stopped her.

"My queen, if I am not able to stop those from killing you, I would perish from guilt.  This
Is my way of ensuring your protection through our ancestors.  Dol anfal twii dore."
She didn't argue, and thanked him with a kiss on the forehead.  "Two bal, two dar, dan du."

She whispered, which was a blessing from her to him for his thoughtfulness and generosity.
Fatigue was beginning to pull on her, so she quickly motioned for them to head down into
The tunnels.  The men paired up then followed, two by two, as they marched into the tunnel

Maer motioned for them.  Garag told Maer he would signal they arrived at the exit point.  He
Nodded and sat at the hub desk with ink and papyrus ready.  He had also brought some
Squires to help him capture the signals being sent, assigning the young men two bells to keep

Tabs on.  The boys stared at the bells in anticipation, beaming with pride of being able to
Contribute to their kingdom.  The march of men and women echoed as the small army
March southward along the warmly lit corridor.  Apollo had not begun his journey across

The sky so it was still dark out.  They reached the exit point within the hour and Garag
Quickly messaged of their safe arrival, notating that the exit point was clear.  The men
And women spread out, taking several spots along sides of the road, falling back just a bit

In order to give them room to retreat when it is time.  Some of the archers climbed up into
The trees along with the mages, with their partner waiting hidden at the base of the tree
The rustling soon was silenced with only the wind whispering to them.  They waited...anxiously.

Meanwhile, the Princess and her two escorts began their journey on horseback, with a few
Days of provisions.  The escorts were advised to take all the back roads and to kill anyone that saw
Them once they were outside of the kingdom.  As they headed into the blanket cover of the forest,

Two ravens followed closely.  The Prince smiled as his black glowing eyes spotted the Princess.
"Poseign."  He said with some excitement in his voice, coming out of his trance.  "Yes," Poseign
Responded quickly hiding his black leather and twig bound book, containing torn pages from the

Dark Book of Tongues.  He was trying to take every opportunity to memorize spells before
The battle begun.  "Send some men to fetch the Princess for me.  Order them to kill the escorts
But she is to be brought to me alive.  If any harm comes to her, tell them it will be their last

Order from me, for I will curse them to Hades."  He said.   The day was looking bright for him
Already.  "Yes, my liege."  Poseign said between his teeth, disgusted at the Prince's obsession.
He came out of the tent and ordered 10 men to head north, intercept the Princess, and kill

Her escorts.  "And if you FAIL to bring the Princess back ALIVE, you will find yourself on a path
To Hades.  Do I make myself clear?"  The men nodded and took off quickly.  Poseign decided to
Hide as Apollo began his ride across the sky.  He had torn out 5 spells from the book, which he

Needed to seek out animals for practicing on, especially the deadlier curses.  He snuck off into
The woods to continue his memorization and practicing of the spell executions.  The Prince
Took only a small portion of breakfast, his mind too full of war and strategy, food fell to the

Bottom of the priority list.  The men were making their last preparations as they began to march
North towards Mercuria.  The Black Prince mounted his chariot, which was in the center of the
Army convoy.  He looked for Poseign but found him no where in sight.  He thought it odd but was

Soon distracted by his generals riding by his side, discussing their attack strategies and awaiting
The Prince's approval.  Meanwhile, a bald man in a black cloak muttered an ancient language of
Egypt, as two nearby squirrels turned to dust and blew away into the wind.  The wizard smiled.

Crippled

The princess still hot with anger as the chariot rode, somewhat slower than she would like
The forest was quiet...a little too quiet for her.  The guards neither looked at her nor
Spoke to her, she might as well have drove herself back to her kingdom.  As they rounded

The trail, arrows pierced one of the men as the other took the reigns and commanded the
Horses run faster.  But it was too late, one of the horses had been hit in the leg as it fell
With the chariot flying over it and tipping over.  The other horse drug the chariot as its

Passengers fell to the sides of the road.  The Guard held his shield and sword ready for
Battle even though his legs and face were dripping with blood.  The princess to had fallen
On her arm and was in pain, unable to hold anything.  She stood behind the guard but then

Thought her chances were better if she would make a run for it into the brush.  As she bolted
The guard yelled, and the distraction cost him his life as an arrow went through his neck.
He fell to the ground, blood gushing and died nearly seconds later from shock.  She

Could hear them behind her, being an elf made her nibble and she used her Elvin skills
To call for help from the birds to lead her into safety.  The told her there were 10 men
Heavily armed behind her in chariots catching up to her quickly.  A squirrel jumped in front

Of her and led her to a hidden cave.  She just barely made it as she saw the men go past
Her.  It would only be a matter of minutes before they back track to her.  Once she was
Sure they were gone, she thanked the squirrels and birds.  She wasn't sure what to do...

But she had to think fast.  She had to find a tunnel entrance.  She called to the birds again
To help her find the tunnel, describing several of the Oounakii to see if they had seen them.
One of the birds had seen a lion which was not something they were accustomed to here.

She smiled...Dorian...she asked if the birds would lead her and they agreed.  She asked the
Squirrel to cover her tracks.  There was a presence she felt...as if she was being watched.
As she took off...one of the ravens followed her while the other went to find the men...

The Prince stopped the convoy dead in its track.  "Incompetence...worthless incompetent
Fools, how hard is it for ten men to bring back a girl who only had two escorts.  I should find
Better warriors in baboons.  Poseign!"  The Prince yelled.  Poseign emerged trailing the end

Of the troops.  The Prince spat at him as he talked.  "Your pathetic excuses for solders have
Failed me yet again."  Poseign hand gripped his wand tighter, if it were any tighter he would
Have snapped it right in two. "So now I am sending the master to clean up the mess your men

Have made.  I warn you Poseign, if she is not brought to me in one piece, I will kill you.  Is that
Understood?"  Poseign didn't say a word but looked at him with his dark coal eyes, it took all
His inner strength to not smite the Prince right then and there.  But he still needed him to fight

In the war.  At least to take out some of the enemy before Poseign claimed his new kingdom.
He turned around and pushed one of the men off of their horse.  Kicking the horse's sides hard,
He rode to catch up to the men and capture the princess.  The Black Prince was still furious

But he motioned for the convoy to continue.  They were 2 miles from the ambush awaiting them.
Meanwhile, back at the kingdom, everyone was in deep training mode.  Rangers were now practicing
Moving targets, the mages were busy casting curses and counter-curses, and the warriors were

Practicing their fighting styles using blunt weapons against each other.  It was an intense morning
And everyone was completely drenched in sweat in a matter of minutes.  The morning seemed to
Drag as time slowed for them.  In front, men were busy burying the mines as quickly as they could

Of course with a few casualties in their haste.  Several injured but luckily no one had died yet.
Back on the trail the Queen rested against the tree, her eyes struggling to stay awake.  Garag
Took notice, standing close to her.  "My Queen, are you okay?"  He asked concerned.

She yawned, "Yes of course.  Just trying to wake up."  That was a lie and she knew it.  She was
Fighting desperately to stay awake.  But the energetic high of the night had left her strapped
For internal resources...fighting fatigue on her will alone.  She knew this was not going to be good

And would be one of the first to retreat once the attack had started.  In the distance, Poseign
Had caught up with the 10 men sent to find the princess, they were hot on her trail thanks to the
Ravens.  He despised them all, but most importantly, he despised their target.  He rode with the men

And the princess could hear them coming, having the ability to hear sounds 10 times the capability
Of humans.  Her heart was racing as she ran through the brush and forest as fast as the deer.
The birds flew fast but not at a pace she could not keep up with.  But she wasn't the only one

Who could hear the disturbance.  Dorian stood perched on a cliff, listening to all the commotion
Stemming from the dense forest.  He sent warning signals down the bell to Maer who immediately
Alerted Mythist.  In order not to give up the location of the entrance, Dorian had perched himself

A considerable distance away, claws ready, to face whatever was coming out of that forest like
A bat out of hell.  As they approached the clearing, the Princess jumped up onto the base of the cliff
Scaling it with such brevity, she started Dorian with her speed and agility.  Dorian's eyes bulged

"Princess?"  He said.  She looked at him with such intense fear and pain from her injuries that she
Had not noticed due to the panic to survive driving her to get to him.  Out of breath she panted...
"We...have..to go...they are...following."  Dorian could hear them coming but didn't think that they

Would make it to the tunnel entrance without being spotted.  "Hop on my back" he said.  She jumped
On his back and held on to his mane as he took off with speeds that surpassed hers.  He was heading
To the next entry point.  The Princess still felt the presence when she looked up into the sky and

Noticed the raven.  She leaned forward and whispered, "We are being followed."  Dorian understood
And had to think fast.  There was a labyrinth cave they were coming upon, that lead into and out of
One of the Mountains.   It was risky but it was the only way he could think of until he came into

Range of the Talons.  "Hang on" he said as his stride increased and he leaped up into the cave entrance
Running at full speed.  His eyes adjusting to the darkness quickly, he ran then stopped.  "Get off."  He
Told the Princess and she did.  "Wait here, if I am not back shortly, don't wait for me, head down the

Cavern to the left and follow it always left until you reach the exit."  He said.  She started to say
Something but he was already gone.  The raven had followed them into the cave.  Flying at full speed
It couldn't slow its momentum when Dorian hit its head with his claws, sending it smack into the wall.

He then chewed it to pieces, but it was too late.  He could hear the men coming into the cave.  He
Headed back to the Princess.  Poseign used his wand for light as they headed into the cave.  It
Wasn't too long before they found the remains of the bird.  Stepping on them, Poseign moved forward

Telling the men to stay and be still.  He could hear Dorian's paws echoing through the cavern and
Followed the sounds.  Dorian came back to the Princess.  "Hurry, get back on."  She was in so much
Pain she was about to faint but she got on his back just the same.  He took off as fast as he could

With Poseign close behind him.  Poseign used his levitation spell to follow them.   He could see
Their shadows ahead of him and he shot out a curse from his wand.  It just barely missed Dorian
As they were rounding a curve.  Dorian knew that if they went through another straight passageway

It would be over.  They reached a fork and he told the Princess to get off.  She didn't.  He snarled
And kicked her off his back.  She fell startled.  "Go down that passage way as quietly as you can."
He said.  "What about you?"  When he didn't respond and she got up with a sad heart and quietly made her

Way down the passage.  Dorian started to run again taking off into the other side.  Poseign wondered
Why they had stopped.  He got to the fork and instead of following Dorian, he followed the other path.
When Dorian couldn't hear Poseign, he doubled back fearing the worse.  The Princess felt Poseign

Approaching and she started to run like mad.  "Stay left" Dorian's voice repeated in her head.
She almost reached the exit when she felt her body go numb and she wasn't able to move.  Poseign
Had put a freeze spell on her.  Her heart was about to pop out of her chest with fear.  As the Dark

Wizard approached her, Dorian leaped at him with claws drawn.  Poseign turned around and with
A flick of the wrist, Dorian was nothing but dust blowing away in the wind.  The Princess could feel
Him departing and she started to cry.  "Oh please, spare me your pathetic emotions."  Poseign said as he

Faced her.  He stared her up and down with disgust.  "You women are all alike, weak, feable, worthless...
Except for child baring, I see no purpose for your existence.  Men are fools to devote themselves to
You."  He said to her with soulless black eyes.  She couldn't do anything but cry.  He threw her over

His shoulders and took her back to where the men were waiting.  All she could think about was
The Queen and the loss of Dorian.  The Queen suddenly felt ill.  She fell to the ground on her knees
Overwhelmed with sadness.  A vision of Dorian popped into her head and she new something bad

Had happened.  Garag went to tend to her but just then the Prince's Army was approaching.
They waited until they started to see mages and/or rangers to attack.  The Queen tried to compose
Herself, but the fatigue and the Erie feeling were overwhelming her.  The dark robed mages on

On horseback were in view and Altreon was the first to draw blood, killing two mages with one arrow.
The others were soon to follow and the Prince's army were scattering like bugs trying to take cover
In the forest on  the other side of the path.  The Prince stood on his horse wondering what the

Commotion was about and the Queen started to run towards him, feeling a second wind.  Garag,
Altreon, and Theos were all right behind her.  She leaped into the air and the Prince fell off his horse
Just in time before she struck his head.  He pulled out his wand and started to aim it at her but

Felt a counter curse from Theos which sent him flying into a tree.  Mages around him were now
Firing at Theos as he counter blocked them.  Altreon took out several mages with his arrows
As Garag went after the Prince with the Queen.  The Prince cursed the Queen but she managed

To dodge it, as the tree behind her disintegrated to dust.  Theos again counter cursed the Prince
But the Prince dodged and cursed Theos' wand, disabling it and knocking Theos down.  Altreon picked
Up Theos as he shot the white arrow with explosives into a chariot, which would be the signal for the

Troops to retreat during its distraction.  The Queen lunged at the Prince again but was caught
By Garag just in time as a curse hit his shield, and it disintegrated.  By now the Queen was exhausted
And collapsed from fatigue.  Garag picked her up and dived across the path just as the explosions were

Going off.  The remaining Mercurians and Cretans  retreated back into the tunnel, unseen by the
Prince's troops.  The Prince was in hot pursuit of them when the explosion sent him flying again
Into another tree.  When the smoke cleared and they were left standing in the middle of the road

He saw a quarter of his mages dead along with several rangers and some warriors.  He threw his
Wand into the ground and started punching a chariot so enraged.  Back in the tunnels, Altreon
Noticed Theos' arm turning gray.  Theos started to complain about a numbness coming from his arm.

When Altreon stopped he took a closer look at Theos' arm and the gray was creeping up from his
Hand to his elbow.  Altreon yelled, "Garag!"  Garag turned around and his eyes almost popped out
Of his head.  He put the Queen down against the wall so he could take a closer look at it.  They

Called one of Theos' head mages and they all knew it was the Dark Book of Tongue.  Theos cried,
"Cut of off."  They looked at him in disbelief.  He screamed in pain this time, "CUT IF OFF."  Garag
And Altreon looked at each other and they motioned for others to hold him down.  They then tied

A tourniquet around the arm as Garag's sword severed it through the bone swiftly.  Theos passed
Out as they wrapped his open wounds.  The arm was still moving but then became hard like stone.
They carried it with them along with Theos and the Queen.  They had lost half their crew on that

Ambush but had taken out nearly 100 of the Black Prince's army, primarily the mages.  They rushed
To get back to the hub and get Theos to their doctors.  The Queen also would need tending to as
Her skin was pale.  She still had not come out of her fainting spell which caused them concern...

Olympus Calling

When they arrived at the hub, Maer and Mythist were waiting.  Her mouth
Dropped as she saw Theos' blood soaked wrappings.  "My Zeus..."  She said
Under her breath as she ran to help take him to the Doctors.  Garag was

Following close behind with the Queen in his arms.  The Queen found herself
Once again in Apollo's Garden.  She expected to find him there but instead it
Was Aphrodite, whose somber look troubled her.  Aphrodite spoke to her softly,

"They have Airrionna.  It's all your fault! Why did you send her to her death?"
The Queen felt ill, no, not Airrionna too.  Then she saw Dorian approaching
With Athena and Apollo.  "We are disappointed in you LaanXoan.  You have

Given the Black Prince one of the keys he needs to take over Greece."  She
Couldn't speak, her throat dry.  Dorian spoke to her next.  "I tried my Queen,
I tried to save her but...I couldn't...he was too strong...I have never felt

Such total and complete evil as I felt that one second in his presence."  The
Queen's sickness started to turn into rage.  Apollo looked at her with anger,
"Your carelessness almost had Theos killed today."  He said through gritting

Teeth.  The Queen asked Aphrodite, "Is she still alive?  Where is she?"  The Goddess
Of love looked down then across the mountain.  "You find the Black Prince,
You will find her."  Athena spoke next, "You will need more than blunt force

To get her back.  The Prince will have her guarded but, there is someone
Who can help...someone on the inside."  She said, smiling somewhat.
The Queen looked at her mother, "Who?" She asked.  Her mother did not

Answer.  Then she said, "In time my child but for now, you need to wake
Up..."  She stood there then they all turned to her and yelled, "Get Up!"
With that the Queen gasped and her eyes flew open as she sat straight up

In the bed, scaring the poor nurse at her bedside who almost felt her chest
Cave in.  Then she felt soft, strong hands grabbing hers.  "Its okay my Queen"
Garag said as he laid her back down.  She fought him saying, "No I must get up

Now."  As she pushed him aside and motioned for the Nurse to bring her some water.
Her throat was so dry, she could barely talk.  The Nurse quickly returned with her
Beverage.  The Queen chugged it so fast, she motioned for another one as the

Nurse scurried.  Garag spoke softly, "Theos is injured."  "So I have heard." She responded
As Garag looked at her with wonderment.  "I had a vision," she responded, "We also lost
Dorian and the Princess has been captured by the Prince."  It choked her up to say it.

She was glad the nurse returned, with a pitcher of water in addition of the glass this time.
"We have another opportunity to attack again but we will have to take a different approach.
They will be sending scouts before approaching.  It will slow their progress, but will not stop

Them."  She said thinking how they would attack them next.  Theos walked in and she gasped
At his injury.  "Hades fire, I knew you were hit but..."  He smiled, "I know, and my casting hand
Too.  But luckily Mythist has been helping me train with my left hand and is trying to see

If there is a way to counteract the stone curse.  Maybe my arm can be mended back but...
Not likely."  She was saddened, she brought this all upon them.  "Hey, it could have been worse...
Could have been my face or..." He looked down and shivered.  She couldn't help but laugh a little

At him.  "So what now my Queen."  Garag said.  Just then Altreon joined them and patted Theos
On the back.  "We await your orders,"  Altreon said.  She stood up and a sharp pain shot across
Her temples.  "Let me have a moment alone if you don't mind, I need to gather my thoughts."

They nodded and left the room.  She walked to the window and stared out looking up into the
Sky.  "I will save you,"  She whispered.  The Prince's men were so shook up from the ambush, the Prince
Decided to stop and regroup his generals.  Just then Poseign rode up with the Princess drapped over the

Back of the horse, still frozen.  The Prince's face darkened with an evil happiness.  "I see you
Didn't let me down."  He told Poseign as Poseign dismounted and carried the princess over to the Prince.
"Finally, something goes right today."  The Prince exclaimed.  Poseign then looked around.

"What happened here?"  "Ambush."  The Prince replied.  "We lost about a tenth of the army."
Poseign was infuriated he was sent off as an errand boy to bring back trash when he could have been
here, killing the enemy.  He stormed off into the woods with his black leather book in tow.

The Prince ordered the men  to take her to one of the tents and guard it with their lives.  He
Went back to discussing his battle plans with his Generals as they would have to take precautions
To avoid future ambushes or surprise attacks, not because he valued his men's lives but because

He needed them to be alive when they reached the kingdom gates.  The men dropped the Princess
In the tent and one of them started to group her when the other stopped him.  "What are you doing?"
The guard looked at him, "She can't do anything about it, besides the Prince won't know."  "Oh, you

Think?"  He hit the guard on the head.  "You idiot, he has eyes all over the place.  Haven't you seen
Him come out of a trance?"  The guard's skin went white and he backed away from the Princess.
The men left her on the floor, she felt so sick she wanted to puke.  She was looking around the room

Even though she still couldn't move, for something to either kill herself with or to disarm the guards so
She could escape.  Why did he want her, why didn't he just kill her already.  She laid there tormented
By thoughts until the darkness came, and she could finally start to move her body and limbs.  She was

Searching the room when suddenly the Prince entered, closing the tent entrance behind him.  She stood
As far away from him as possible and he smirked at her.  "I give the Queen too much credit, she is a fool
To send you with only two escorts into the woods and right into my arms."  She didn't say anything, he

Was right.  As he approached her she rounded around the tent keeping a good distance between them.
He just laughed at her.  "You have no idea how powerful I am, if you did, you would know that your
Scurrying does you no good.  For now I will let you keep your distance, like the cat does with the mouse."

He smiled in such a way it sent shivers down her spine.  "Sleep well my Princess...for tomorrow, will be
The last day you will be thankful you were alive."  He left the tent laughing and told the Men to not
Let their guard down before heading to his tent.  There was nothing in the tent except some sheets

On the hard cold ground and an oil lamp on stump.  She was hungry, she hadn't eaten since yesterday.
The Queen had upset her so much this morning, she had completely lost her appetite.  She was also
In pain.  She managed to tear the sheets to make a soft cast for her arm, but did not sleep.  It was

Early the next morning when she heard some commotion outside her tent.  The young warrior
Looked at the Guards and smiled.  As his face was revealed from his helmet, it was the same warrior
Who Poseign threatened to throw into the holes with his brothers.  The Guards nodded at him and he

Said, "General Poseign wishes to speak to you both now, he said it was very urgent."  The Guards looked
At each other but didn't move.  "Okay, then I will tell him you refused his order."  They both shouted No
As the young warrior turned around.  "It's just, the Prince told us to stay here to guard the Princess."

He told them, "What am I, Medussa's leftovers? Surely this wounded girl is no match for a warrior, even
Just one.  The General said it would be swift, I will stand guard until you get back."  The Guards nodded
And smiled.  One of them grabbed his shoulder tightly as they walked towards the General's tent.

The young man entered her tent hastily.  He took out some mage robes and threw them at her.
"Hurry, put those on."  She looked at him and asked, "Why?"  "Look, either put on that disguise or stay
Here and rot with them, makes no difference to me.  I will just escape on my own."  He said and started

To walk out.  "No, wait."  She quickly put on the robes as he was watching closely looking for those
Black birds.  But they were no where in sight, just as Athena promised.  He motioned for her to follow him
As they quickly ran through the camp.  They freed two horses from their post, riding at full speed into

A small forest opening.  He was headed north, just like his dream showed him.  They rode for a few
Miles then dismounted, freeing the horses and covering their trails.  "Why are you doing this?"  She
Said confused.  He took off his helmet and faced her.  "No."  She fainted as he caught her in his arms.

He carried her over his shoulder to where his dream showed him to go.  He stood there for a second
When a wolf came out of no where snarling.  Then the wolf noticed the Princess, and slowly circled
Around him.  "Look, I come in peace.  I just want to fight against the Prince and will die for Mercuria."

The wolf was salivating and growling still, eyes glowing watching his every move.  He slowly put the
Princess down and held his hands up in the air.  Howler leaped and just barely missed the young
Warrior who rolled and picked up a nearby stick to defend himself.  The Princess came through just

Before Howler was about to attack and yelled, "Stop!"  Back at where the horses were set free, Poseign knelt down
looking at the tracks of the horses.  "They stopped here and probably dismounted, but only
Horse tracks are here."  The Prince was completely flushed.  He had already killed two guards in his rage

This morning for leaving their post.  The ravens hadn't found anything yet, and he couldn't hold in his
Anger any longer.  He turned around and stormed back to the campsite.  Poseign didn't tell him that he knew
what direction they headed.  This was a complete waste of time and he wanted to get back

To what they came here to do, win a war.  He let the men go before him and he quietly slipped
Off into the forest, to practice and prepare himself not for the war against the Mercurians...
But the battle against the only thing that was in between him and greatness...the Prince.

The Dawn of Another Day

The Queen finally found her generals at the tavern, drinking nectar and trying to relax
Altreon, Garag, and Theos were at a table, arguing the age old question...What is mightier
The Arrow, the sword, or the wand.  "Ogre breath, there is no way the sword is mightier

Than the wand.  I don't even need to be near you to curse you helpless."  Theos said as he
Slurped his frosty Mercurian Nectar.  Before Garag could respond, Altreon yelled "And what protection
Have you from the arrow?  Why I can take you out before you even notice I have fired an arrow."

"And what do you do for an agile warrior, whose speed can out run your inaccurate spell casting."
Garag said motioning for the barmaid for another.  They were still arguing when the barmaid said,
"Well if you ask me, you would be nothing if it weren't for the craftsmen and women.  All you would

Be is a bunch of naked men and women running around talking about who is better, instead of proving
it."  With that she picked up the empties and walked back to the bar as all three of them watched
Her speechless.  The Queen came up laughing, "I agree, but the men would definitely be no match

For the women in that case, rendered helpless with male hormones as the naked women kick you
Someplace no man should be kicked."  They all winced a little and didn't respond.  Mythist smiled
At the Queen, "Glad to see you are up and about."  The Queen took a seat next to them ordering

A nectar with a perplexed look about her.  "Well I have been thinking about how we could attack
Their army next.  And I think I have an idea."  They all looked at her intently, leaning in as she
Whispered.  "They have the majority of their men on horses, what say we spook the horses and

Let them do the damage to the army, stampeding away as they kick and possibly kill."  Theos smiled,
"That is genius.  So how do we spook the horses?"  She leaned back as the barmaid delivered her nectar.
"Ah, that is where I am stumped.  If we could somehow get animals to cooperate..."  Mythist disagreed,

"No animals are not good.  You run the risk of horses not being spooked due to too many personality
Differences.  Besides, we don't have enough Oounakii for that."  Garag smiled, "But what if...you had
Something unknown...that moved fast...like an illusion of some sort."  Altreon agreed, "Right, like...

Shadows or Ghosts."  Theos slammed his good hand on the table, scaring them a bit.  "I got it, shadow
Barrage."  Mythist agreed, "Of course, we send shadow barrages down both sides of the trail, the
Horses will spook no doubt."  "Ah, but one slight problem, range, we would have to be pretty close to be

Able to cast them." Theos said sulking and taking a gulp of his drink.  "How close?" The Queen asked.
"About 20-40 steps I figure."  Theos said, belching.  Just then Mythist and the Queen looked at each
Other saying "Transformation spells."  Back at the tunnel entrance, the Princess slowly rose to her feet

And looked at Howler.  "He is my half-brother, Oberon, who we thought had died when he fought with
Odysseus in the Trojan war.  My father received a parchment from Odysseus saying he had died in
Battle but his body was torched beyond recognition and could not be sent home. It broke my father's

Heart.  He was never quiet the same after that."  She looked at Oberon, as if asking for an explanation.
Oberon sighed and looked away.  "I had failed father miserably as a warrior.  I thought it best to stage
A heroic death than for him to discover I was a weak fool of a warrior.  Truth is, I ran from the war,

Placing my armor on a dead peasant I had found and setting him on fire.  I couldn't handle it." Howler
Transformed into his human form, "And you expect to fight for Mercuria?  Mercurians are not cowards!
We don't need the likes of you!"  He snarled even in his human form, disliking the young man.  "I know,

I don't blame you for doubting me.  But I have changed, I now have vengeance in my veins, and want
Nothing more than to bring the Prince down with my own two hands if possible.  All I ask is for a chance."
"How did you end up with him anyway?"  The Princess asked.  Oberon sighed, "I was in a bar and they

Were recruiting.  I had to redeem myself before I came back to father.  So I decided to join.  I did not
Realize how evil the Prince was until that night at our kingdom, he almost killed father. I should have left
Then but I was too scared.  It wasn't until I saw you again, sis, did I gain the courage to do the right

Thing.  I didn't want to let you know who I was because we had to move fast."  Howler motioned for
Them to enter the tunnel entrance.  He sent a message to Maer that he had found the Princess and
Was coming in.  Back at the camp, the Prince gathered his generals.  "We cannot have all our mages

And rangers grouped all in the same area when we march.  From now on I want them dispersed evenly
Throughout our marching lines.  Is that understood?"  The Prince spoke, as the generals nodded.
"And, I need to disguise myself as one of the warriors.  Someone fetch me some armor before dawn.

We March at sunrise.  I will send the ravens ahead of us to check if the path is clear.  I want our
Ballistics ready to fire.  And all men should march with weapons in hand ready at all times.  We did
Not fight back until after several attacks.  I want them firing at anything they see moving in the forest!"

The generals nodded and the Prince dismissed them.  Thumbing through his dark book of tongues, he
Realized something, a page was missing.  He started to flip through the book and there were several
Pages missing.  He threw the book across the tent and stormed out towards the Mages' for answers.

When they arrived in town, Howler took them to the Queen's castle.  The Chambermaids led Oberon
And Airrionna to the guest quarters as Howler headed to the tavern for a drink.  When he got there,
He spotted the Queen and took a seat next to her at the table.  She smiled and motioned for the

Barkeep for another round of nectars.  Howler whispered to the Queen in her ears, "The Princess is
Here, along with her brother."  The Queen jumped up.  "Where?"  Howler sat back a little startled, "I
Took them to your castle my Queen."  She ran out of the tavern to talk to the Princess, leaving the

Generals with their drinks.  Garag looked sad, Mythist turned to him asking, "What's wrong with you?"
"Nothing, just not feeling well all of a sudden."  His stomach was turning with disappointment.  He would
Have to swallow his feelings for love again.  They would stay and drink into the night, talking about

The next phase of attacks in the morning.  The Queen ran into the castle and the Chambermaids quickly
Motioned to where her new guests were.  The Princess was in her room changing when the Queen
Bursted in, scaring her half to death.  They looked at each other and even though the Princess was

Still mad at her for sending her off yesterday morning, she was so relieved to see her that she soon found
Herself kissing her passionately.  They kissed for hours without saying a word, until the Queen looked
Her deep in her eyes and whispered, "I am so sorry, I should have never let you out of my sight."

Planning

The horns sounded as the kingdom was awakened for the day's battle preparations.
The Queen adorned her amour and fetched a small portion of fruit, tea and breads for breakfast as
She watched the Princess pull the covers over her head. The generals were gathered in the Queen's

Great Hall, awaiting orders for today's attack as the rustle of craftsmen fill the center of the kingdom.
Mythist greeted the Queen with a smile. "Rest well?" She asked, following the Queen to the front of the Hall.
"No but as well as I can get with everything going on." Mythist took her spot at the front with Theos.

"When I left you last night, there were still discussion around the shadow barrage and range."
The Queen looked towards Myst and Theos. Theos smiled and responded, "Transformation spells
Are risky. There are biological differences between people which may cause timing issues

When utilized. And we would still need to carry wands, yet be inconspicuous. I don't see
How that would work in our favor." There was commotion amongst the generals while the Queen
Pondered the approach. Howler stood up and cleared his throat, waiting for permission to speak.

The Queen held up her hand as a hush fell across the room, all eyes focused on the young hairy man.
"I believe, there is one animal strong enough to hold a wand and fast yet small enough to be unseen."
He paused as everyone looked upon him, heat rushing to his face as Howler was not the best at public

Speaking. "The peregrine falcon can fly faster than any winged creature, its talons strong enough to hold
A wand, and its vision far surpasses most animals of flight. I believe if the transformation spell was used
To form these falcons, we could accomplish this mission." With that he took his seat allowing his skin

To return to a normal color. Theos still was argumentative, "But we are still left with a timing issue."
The Queen stood facing the courtyard window, looking up into the sky as if to have her problem solved
By the grace of a cloud. Mythist stood up to speak. "Perhaps there is a potion that can help us to

Increase the timing of the spell?" Theos turned to her giving it some thought. "You know, you may be
Onto something there." The Queen turned to them and walked back to her credenza. "What of the element
Spells, say a cloud spell, so that we can have some cover." Mythist turned to her, speaking softly, "Come

To think of it my Queen, there is something I believe I read in the Book of Spells." Theos smiled, "You did.
It is a simple spell to conjour, I believe it will serve us well indeed. But lets head to the gardens, see what
Potions may help us." With that, Mythist and Theos left briskly. The Queen turned to the remaining generals

And sighed as she spoke, "Today we must continue preparing our Kingdom from impact. Altreon, I need the
Archers to come up with a strategy of defense. In fact, I need everyone to think defensively today, breaking
Up the defensive strategy into layers. What is the first layer, second, and so on. I want a briefing of each

Of your strategies before the sun has crossed over the Tamouc mountain top. You are dismissed." With that
The generals scurried out of the room to make their plans for battle. The Queen was left to her thoughts as she
Poured herself some more tea. Today was one of clarity for her. Her mind was still but her soul restless.

Dance with Ancestors

The Queen awakened from her daydream, and left her chambers to venture to the forest. The wind
Taunted her hair as she walked solemnly, her eyes only looking at the ground in front of her until she
Thought she heard a whisper of her name. She unsheathed her sword, twisting it forward, crouching to

Listening for anything that didn't sound like the forest. She heard nothing but she felt a presence she
Could not explain. As she turned side to side, she began to see the shadows of the great cavalry riding
Past her, the wind blew through her amour and she stood their baffled. Then she saw the shadows of the

Great warriors, marching forth, their weapons drawn, pushing her aside as they walked past her. She
Swiftly side danced out of their way. Then there were the archery units, they all circled her, the greatest
Warriors of Mercury, looking upon her. Then the cavalry units were the first to attack, their horses fast

And the Queen's speed barely allowed her to maneuver away from their piercing spears. There was a whisper
Slithered in with the wind, "Outstanding." The warriors were the next to attack, their speed equal with hers,
She had to tactically maneuver, spinning and disarming. The shadows disappeared and there was a laughter

That echoed in the wind. Breathless, tired, and bewildered, the queen leaned on her sword briefly, only to be
Startled to action by an onslaught of arrows, she jumped behind a nearby rock, shielding herself. She sat
Panting, her entire being fatigued. Then there was a cloud of darkness that appeared above her and it shot

Out rays of magic lightening, she rolled, jumped, deflected as many as she could but got hit through the heart
Falling as the cloud disappeared. Garag was the first to find her, he lifted her head. "My Queen, what happened?
Are you okay?" He helped her to sit up as she shook her head. Was it a dream? The Gods and Goddesses

Mocking her? Garag helped her to stand and she stood there for a moment focusing her eyes on the horse tracks.
She gasped and looked at Garag. "Our ancestors paid me a visit today. Testing me to see if I was ready."
Garag looked bewildered, "And how did you fare my Queen?" She looked down at the place where the cloud's

Strike had penetrated her armor. "I will need to be better against an army of mages." Garag nodded and they walked
Back into the kingdom. The Queen's mind heavy with strategy opportunities against the mage attacks. How
Would she be able to prove herself against the attacks of the Black Prince. She didn't know at that moment.
